okay, after a character is skill capped, how can i prevent my wanted skill
from dropping? i would assume that the skills i don't use will drop
first, right? or is it the highest skill that drops first?

You have to use that skill almost daily and everytime you cross a
server boundary to be sure it won't drop: that's difficult so expect
skills to 'float' a bit. I've seen skills I haven't used in weeks
just sit there while skills I just used drop half a point. Unless
you're at GM status they're pretty easy to raise again, of course.

The ones you use the least will drop first. So just keep using those skills
that you want to keep.
