Do you hear what you're saying??? Can you read that passage without
laughing?

What you are saying is exactly, *word for word* ("An entire generation
of cretins.") is nothing less than what *every* generation has said
about the following one. It's what our parents said about us, it's what
our grandparents said about our parents.. It's even what our PARENTS
grandparents said about our *parents'* parents.

I must completely and totally reject -and retort- your statement. I
personally see a generation of young adults who are more *worldly* and
*real* than any generation before them coming forth. For the first time,
the younger generation (and I mean the people from 13-25ish) are
conscious of who they are, what their environment is really like, and
they DON'T LIKE IT ANY MORE THAN WE DID WHEN WE WERE THEIR AGE!!!!

In addition, I see a more spiritual group of people than I've known
about since the 1960s. Certainly more so than the materialistic 80s and
*definitely* more so than the careless, drug-hazed 70s. They treat
each other with a respect unprecedented -- they reject (for the most
part) that their differences equate to superiorities and inferiorities.
They accept each other's beliefs. They accept that the genders, although
inherently different, are *not* on two separate levels of equality.

I truly believe in this decade's youth. I feel that they are one of
the best true hopes this country has had in decades, as far as optimism,
realism, and honesty.

Bravo

The symptom I see is that one loud person is being taken to represent
an entire group of people. I have seen the future and it looks good to
me. The best that people like Kajun can hope for is a guest appearance
on real stories of the highway patrol or a dedication line in the
remake of A Clockwork Orange.

In UO I have met the best people and the worst people on the road. To
find an honorable person simply start a camp fire and offer to share
some food with them. You will know in about two seconds whether or not
they are honorable.

ANYONE can wander about and find ribs and kindling. No matter how
needy you are you can still offer this simple hospitality to a fellow
traveller. When you do you will get an immediate response which will
tell you whether or not you want to travel with them.
