Just checked in after nearly 20 years..!

Pretty quiet, half expected to find Eep around, still whining about
the lack of level editor.

Yeah! I keep checking here every few years or so :)

Current status: just got Stadia yesterday and going to try one of the Tomb Raider games they have available (Shadow of the TR, Rise of the TR, plain TR, see https://store.google.com/us/product/stadia_games).

Came into Google Groups to search for what my old email addy used to be. Good to see you, McG!

Wow, hi McGrandpa! It has been a while! :) This reply is a year and a
half later, hopefully you'll see it eventually.

I wouldn't say I'm "still here" (or alt.fan.lara-croft). It has been a
coon's age... what, 15 years? Presumably everyone has gone on to other
things, but just checked to see if that's true.

Well, hello to all still around. :)

Hello back! Playing Tomb raider games on Google Stadia :) All three latest gen games are there. There's much less acrobatics there but there's exploration and adventure. Looks beautiful, controls are pretty good (gamepad is needed IMO), gameplay is fun.

The only problem is that at some points the gameplay is on rails but those are more like mini games so not too bad (e.g. being flushed down by flood).

Any new-ish similar games? I only found ENSLAVED: Odyssey to the West and that's pretty old, from 2013.

Raid on!

Yeah me too ;) I have a few of the post AoD games, but despite the
prettier graphics their gameplay is lousy. Still, it's nice to load
one or the other up, sit and look at the pretties a while, and wish upon
a star...

TC! Good to see ya man! You playing any games these days? I got into
(shudders) Steam. Cause of Half-Life. Then the Half Life 2 set. And
Serious Sam 3 and 4, and now No Man's Sky. :D

Heck, I haven't been here in probably twenty years, but this is Areala saying hello out there in Newsgroups-land! :)

I quit coming around in the late 90's because of all the spam clogging up the group, but got curious, started poking around in Google Groups, and decided to necro the thread from last year. Memories, am I right...? :)

Hey all - OMG I cannot believe the original crew is still around - and someone mentioned Eep which made me literally laugh out loud.

I don't recall what account I was posting under back in the nineties, but it's good to see you all.

It's been a long time since I looked at newsgroups. I have to use a google account now, since I originally used newsgroups directly, instead of through google.

I remember tombraiders dot com (Theresa), shut down back in April 2001, and tombraiders dot net (Stellalune), which is still active. Croft times is still around but seems different.

I've bought and played the entire series, except for the console only shadow (doppleganger).

yeah, tombraiders dot net is up and it seems to be still alive, it has news from September (this year!) and all the latest games etc.

I see Croft times on twitter but the website is unreachable and the latest tweet is from January 2021 so looks not very alive, unless I'm missing something.

In other news, I finished all three latest TR games on Stadia, they are pretty good (I'm missing gymnastics though).

What do you mean by "console only shadow (doppleganger)."?

Can't wait for the next game (in Unreal engine 5). Even though it looks like it's not going to be released anytime soon, no official word but it looks like not earlier than 2025-26. Patience!

Yes, I'm still here. I don't check the group regularly, but I follow a few threads, including this one, and stop by now and then. I haven't made any updates on tombraiders dot net lately, and my Shadow of the TR guide is still missing a few DLC tombs, but I'll get there eventually. I'm also looking forward to the next game, whenever it may arrive. I've mostly been playing other games (Red Dead Redemption 2, Horizon Forbidden West, the newer Assassins Creeds, lots of Stardew Valley, etc.) but I also front a Tomb Raider Community Extra Life charity team and plan to stream some TR with my crew the first weekend in November. If anyone here wants to get involved in something like that, you can head over to extra-life.org and search for the Tomb Raider team. That's us. :D

I pretty much avoid tombraiderforums dot com, but if you wear a flame-retardant suit, you can find some good stuff there, like modders and TRLE creators posting their progress, etc. And there are still lots of old and new fans on Twitter. It gets pretty contentious at times. Quite a few younger players seem to enjoy arguing for sport, but with creative blocking and muting, it can be a nice experience. Lots of talented fan artists, level builders, etc.

I can't speak for Jeff, but I think by "console only shadow (doppelganger)," he meant the Underworld expansions Beneath the Ashes and Lara's Shadow, since they're still Xbox exclusive, and he plays on PC.

Mostly quiet Caturday. Will Sunday be the same? Allergies, pees, poops, heat wave, bug bites, etc. are back again. Incoming updated booster, with its usual side effects, soon. :(
