1) What does having your character view a picture/photo/sculpture do? If
your character acts as if they don't like it, does that mean it isn't
helping the room score? If they like it, does it help?
2) I'm using WinMX (p2p) to get add-ons. New furniture, paintings, objects,
skins, cars, etc. This has really helped my enjoyment of the game.
However, some of them don't seemed balanced for game play. For example, you
can get an American flag for something like $30 and it give 7 to the room.
Is there a website that rates these home-brewed add-ons on game balance,
quality of creation, etc.? Ideally, one that offer them for download?
Also, there's some that my virus program has detected viruses on (such as
the Valentine Skin Pack.exe) and I'd sure like a website that can also
caution against damaging add-ons. Ideally, I'd also love a program that
would enable me to know which add-ons are not really being added to the game
(not accessible), enable me to delete ones I don't want, be the port for
testing out ones before inserting them, etc. Has such a program been
developed?
3) I must have downloaded a bad skin for the white women. When I click
through the skins and heads for the white women, I get to a certain point on
either that it boots me to desktop and the game disappears. Anyone know how
I can go about finding and cutting out that the skin that's causing this
problem?
4) The game is getting a bit boring in one regards: the daily routine.
Sleep, eat, bath, #2, work, call someone over and/or work on skills, sleep,
eat,... At times it feels like I'm a lab rat running through the same maze
over and over for little food tablet rewards (a.k.a. promotions). Is that
all that The Sims is about? I'd like variety of doing things without
overwhelming penalties. Suggestions?
5) Do flowers improve the room score of the outside? Or is the outside room
score only improved by those items that say they add X to room? If you can
improve the room score of the outside with stuff that doesn't list X points
for room score, what is the best stuff to put out and what's meaningless to
put out?
6) *sigh* The only way to get above a certain promotion level is to cheat.
Cheat as in you have to build other houses and populate them with characters
that are outgoing and playful so your main character has people to make into
friends so s/he can get that promotion. Or does the game randomly produce
"neighbors" so you don't have to do this and I've been too impatient for
them to arrive?
7) Is there anyway to speed up the making of meals? Does adding a microwave
to a counter speed up the process? In one of the object add-ons I've
slapped into the game, there was one that gives you a salad that, I guess,
is always there to grab a meal from. It is quite tempting to get this. I
mean I don't spend that much time preparing something to eat except for when
I invite friends over for a meal.
8) Are showers quicker than baths? If so, by how much?
9) Has anyone created home-brewed career paths? If so, how is that done?
I'd love to make up a few myself. I'd also like to readjust the current
ones. Personally, I do not think most actors would prefer being a Broadway
star over being a TV or movie star. In comparison, Broadway stars get far
less fame and fortune than TV and movie stars.
10) How do each of the expansions significantly improve / change the
original game? I'm considering on getting the expansions and am wondering
which to get. No, I'm not yet so addicted that I will get every single
expansion that's out there so I'd like to know which is the best one to get
for the original game as my first expansion.
11) How is the online game supposedly going to be different from the
original? I'm assuming it is still not out yet. Will you still have so
much time pressure? In EverQuest, you don't need to sleep for a third of
the time you're online or it would kill the enjoyment of that game. Will
you have to sleep, go to work, etc. with Sims Online? It sure would be
boring sitting there waiting for your character to get back from work or
wake up so you can play with other players online.

***Your Sims have very strange tastes and even if they dont like something it wont affect your room
score. The room score for the object is determined by the game. I've stopped letting my Sims look at
new stuff I put in my houses...LOL.

** Okay this question is a little long. I'm not sure what you exactly mean by balancing of objects
but some hacked objects are cheap but give you a high room score because that is how the creator
made it. You can change prices & room scores with the Transmogrifier (http://www.elisims.com) (You
can also delete items with this programs) I personally use the SimEnhancer
(http://www.simenhancer.com) for all my changes to characters. There is a small fee to use this
program past 48 hours.I use Paladin's SimCategorizer (http://www.simwardrobe.com) for changing all
my object information. I use the transmogrifier if I want to make a new object or if I want to
change the room score to an object.

** The best program to use is the Sims File Cop available directly from the Sims website.
(http://www.thesims.com) (although I do have it available on my site also)

** I tend to throw alot of parties. I use the Rosebud cheat though, so I always have lots of money
and I don't have to worry about going to work and earning money. I do play the game though more for
the building aspect of it than to actually watch my Sims go through a daily routine. I love to see
how big and beautiful I can make my homes.

** Flowers and landscaping do improve your outside room score. And it is always best to have your
outside room score as high as possible before leaving for school or work. That will make it easier
to get promotions.

** You don't have to cheat to get promotions. You just have to make sure you always go to work all
in the green. For the friends though, you do have to populate your city with other Sims. You don't
have to play them, but create them, place them on a lot and forget about them. They will come by
your house. The Sims first couple of neighborhoods do have randomly selected neighbors already in
place. (To get people to your house so you can at least meet them and be able to call them, place
balloons outside your house. Neighbors flock to your house when these are put outside.)

** The microwave is not any quicker to use than the stove. And it actually provides less hunger
points. Which means you don't get filled up as much as by cooking on the stove. You can always use
the prepared food from object creators to save you time or you can buy the buffet table and keep it
stocked, then you won't have to cook.
>
> 8) Are showers quicker than baths? If so, by how much?
**Showers and baths tend to run the about the same amount of time. The length of time you are in a
bath or shower is determined by how "stinky" you are when you get in there. The lower your hygiene
bar, the longer you stay in. Although bathtubs (especially the expensive ones) give you the added
bonus of having comfort levels go up as well as hygiene.

Maybe someone else would have a link for you on this one.

** I own all the expansion packs and each one adds something different. They all add new objects.
Some add new neighborhoods. (Hot Date added downtown, Vacation added the vacation area and Unleashed
added pets and community areas for businesses.) I personally love Unleashed because of the addition
of pets, plus it runs great on my XP system.

** As an owner of The Sims Online Charter edition.....it is basically a huge chat room right now.
Maxis released it too early (in my opinion) and it has to yet reach it's full potential. You don't
have to go to work, but you do have to spend time earning your skill points. And the thing that is
different about skills in TSO is that you can lose them by not being online. So, when you get online
again, your skill points need to be maxed back out again. If you concentrate on only one skill, your
decay isn't bad. But if you have 2 or more skills maxed out, whichever skills you earned after the
first one take hard hits with the decay. As for sleeping, if you can afford the good beds, your
sleep time is next to nothing. You can be down to your last red bar and go to bed in a good bed and
be recharged to full green in less than a minute of real time.
Thanks for answering! :-)

How do you change the room score with this one. I started it up but only
really see that I can change the price of it.

the bad face and body skin files and deleted them. Woohoo!!

How about for a Dell computer that has 500 Mhz chip, 512 RAM, and a Diamond
Viper video card?
Again, thanks for replying!
Thanks! I'll give them a look. Decorating is one of the cooler things
about Sims. My current Sims pad has a black and white theme to it. :-)

also there's lots of good programs to fiddle with at these two sites...
http://www.simprograms.com/ - you can find a program called career creator

good luck and please feel free to come back with any questions! :)
Went through them all. Nice stuff. Lots of cheats and wacky stuff. I'm
more interested decorations. Paintings, walls, floors, and different
looking furniture, appliances, etc. ... as well as skins and heads. Besides
the above, what other download sites do people recommend?
Oh, I did download the stove that slowly raises your cooking skill. That
just made sense. I mean what cook ever became a chef by just reading
cooking books? *Scott rolls his eyes.*
However, if you go to http://www.simsshowcase.com, they keep you updated on
a lot of the top-quality objects and skinning sites out there and what
they're providing. :) Once you've hit all the sites on their Updates list
and Archives list, your computer will probably explode with all your
downloads. :)
For any newbie, my favorites have always been Seven Deadly Sims. There are
three paysites I reccomend getting their free stuff from also, Well Dressed
Sims, Simfreaks, and The Sims Resource.
Secret Sims, Nighttime Sims, and Ikbods are also my favorites (all three of
whom are free). You can find any of their sites on simsshowcase. :)

Whether they like it or not depends a lot on the sim's personalities, rather

Cars? I hope none of mine are being traded around. I really prefer people
to get mine from the website. http://www.livin-it-up.net

Game balance is a personal preference, since different people have their own
objectives in the game. Quality is also subjective, although I think that
most people agree that there shouldn't be any bleed-through.
> Ideally, one that offer them for download?
You might try going to Sims Showcase on a regular basis
http://www.strategyplanet.com/thesims/simsshowcase/. They have regular
"finds" of great objects at lots of sites, and offer links to those sites.
You might also want to check out Sim Finder 2000
http://www.simfinder2000.com/, which does something similar.

I would be very cautious about using a P2P to get executables. The virus
probably came from the sender's system, rather than the object itself, but
there are also malicious people out there, so caution (and a good AV prog)
helps.

Sims Categorizer does a rudimentary check for version, but the objects have
to be accessible to the game for Categorizer to check them. You can get
Categorizer at Paladin's Place: http://www.simwardrobe.com

2. Elisims, from http://www.elandnews.com/elisims/

You can play a more relaxed game. Have your sims take some time off and
relax. There is absolutely no reason to be on a constant chase for
promotions, or even to have a job, since there are many ways for your
simmies to make money without a job. Create theme neighborhoods - I have
several, including a Beach Party theme and a Diskworld theme.

I tend to ignore room scores. I decorate houses that *I* think look good,
and that fit what I consider to be the sim's personalities. As long as
their other needs are all green, having the room in the red doesn't affect
promotions in my game.

A full neighborhood is a happy neighborhood. Populate it with other
playable sims, and *play* them as well as those in your primary house. The
game doen't produce neighbors, you do. You can do anything you want with
them, including having feuds.

Meal-making *is* a drag, so I tend to get the best fridge and stove as soon
as feasably possible, and include a food processor. That cuts down the need
for eating to a single meal per day.

If you're planning on getting all the expansions, then the best way to do it
is to get them in the order that they were released in: Living Large, House
Part, Hot Date, Sims Vacation, and Sims Unleashed. Each adds a bit to the
game, and you will have less problems with adding expansions if you do it in
the proper order.

It's out. From the reviews, you will either love it, or hate it. There
seems to be no middle ground. for more information, perform a Google Search

Yup. VW bugs, limos, hummers, convertibles, etc. Not sure I'll buy them
though. Even if you could drive them around, you're not allowed to leave
your parcel of land ... or at least in the original game you cannot.

I didn't even know there were download websites. Found out about the
downloads on WinMX from a friend and that's been my sole source of downloads
until today and the replies to my original post. :-)
Nice website. Found a few paintings that should look nice in my place.

Food processors help in this? Just like how the stove does?
