I've been in Europe for the past two months and have missed most of the
conversation here, and don't have time to read all the threads now that
I'm back...

But I am to understand there's going to be a *live action* sims movie!?!
What's the point? Making real people act like sims will wear thin in
about ten minutes, I think, though I haven't seen all those other movies
that were based off of video games. (Not the sort of stuff I usually go
see.)

Still, trying to imagine the casting would be fun. Who'd play Bella
Goth? Demi Moore? Anjelica Houson? ;-) (of fifteen years ago, maybe)

Also, for Monkey in SF, I saw a painting in a museum in Brussels:
Suzanna and the Elders by Jacob Jordaens. In it Suzanna is sequeezing
her boobs. Made me think of Miss Gerri Lawlor!

ROFL! at the boob thing. Guess it's universal <bg>. I will tell her
that next time she's over.
I was wondering why we had not see you 'round for a bit. Hope you had
a great time.
As for the Sims movie.. yeah.. we've been sort of commiserating about
it a bit in here. Well.. not so much really.
Not alot is known about it besides the fact that the rights were
bought. I'm sure when they bought them they have (had) no idea or
plans for a script- just the concept. You know Hollywood- that comes
secondary and is irrelevent in their eyes. Plot? Script? Who needs
that anymore?
Myself- i think it is a dreadful idea!
Unless Gerri gets work out of it, which i doubt.

(PS- apologies if this posts twice. Google is being weird on me again
today)

I looked online for a photo link but can't find one. Surprising, given
the stature of the painter.

I'd rather be in Europe than anywhere else. By a longshot.

While shopping in Germany's largest department store (an all-day event
in itself, every time I go there) I saw tables and tables of "Die Sims"
games. Seemed quite popular.

I'm sure they're more worried about the marketing proposal than the
script. They're probably already on the phone with Burger King, Pizza
Hut, and anyplace else they think they can get a tie-in. (Hmmm, how
about smoke detectors, given how handy they are in the game?)

If Gerri gets some work out of it, I'd go and see it just for that.

Best wishes

Oh, you and me both, Maxon! And i have not been to a movie theatre in
ages. But i'd sort of have to go if she were somehow involved.

In the meantime- if you are able to locate a movie called
"Suckerfish"- she is in that. And she is very good! Even if i didnt
know her she would stand out in the movie. There is one scene where
she is sort of stomping down the street all angry like and puffing
madly at her cigarette that cracks me up every time (that is VERY her
LOL).
Plus- the camera loves her.
The guy who does Sims voices as well- Stephen Kearin, is in it too as
one of the Pet Shop emplyees. He's quite funny also.
It is on dvd- but i dont know about Region 2.

The way Maxis ships the game, all male sims are mutilated anyways.... I
bet it'll be the same for the action figure (but where is the action?
Huh...? HUH?).

Heh.. in my game.. way back in S1, i used to torture Bella Goth
unmercifully!
The very first Sim i ever made- Pollyanna Big-N-Butch (name says it
all) used to live to mess with her. Dont know why really.. just seemed
like the fun thing to do at the time. From then on- no one else in the
game liked her LOL

LOL. I don't torture anybody but some characters in Sims are somewhat
annoying.
