Day 4 in Pleasantville

Kiri StarrieNight is delighted with her promotion to Police Chief.
Life would be perfect if Cristopher would just buckle down and
graduate college so they could marry. As she arrives at home, she
sees that Albany Capp fellow looking like he is about to steal her
newspaper. She decides to try the diplomatic approach and greet him
politely. Maybe if she makes friends with the Capp clan, she can read
her newspapers at her leisure. As soon as she greets him, he RUNS to
the electrodancespherethingie. Kiri shrugs and takes her time paying
bills and doing the crossword puzzle. Ajay Loner wanders by, and Kiri
decided to devote the evening to meeting neighbors. Ajay actually
spent more time with Albany, however, as Kiri had a lot of chores to
do. Albany ran everywhere, to the toilet, to dinner, to play chess.
Kiri figured he must be keeping in shape to escape with those
newspapers.

At the Calientes, Mortimer decides he wants to marry Dina. To do
that, he has to divorce that Bella tart. He invites Bella over, then
outrageously flirts with Dina, pats her growing belly and Makes Out
several times. Bella goes swimming. Finally, Mortimer takes Dina up
to the bedroom to Woohoo. This gets Bella's attention and she heads
upstairs in an angry mood. Mortimer invokes the Magic Keumungo to
keep Dina from getting jealous, and tries to kiss Bella until she gets
so angry she falls completely out of love for him. A quick suggestion
of marriage, and Bella divorces him and stomps off. Morty heads
downstairs to tell Dina the good news, get engaged and married.
Whew!. Nina starts thinking it is time to move out. Mortimer fixes
Dina some cheesecake, catching the very pregnant Jennifer Burb as
collatoral damage. Late that night Dina has twin daughters and rushes
to show them to Nina.

Nina takes the hint and moves to another condo. Which she immediately
alters so that she can fit a double bed into one of the bedrooms.
Whoever made condos with no room for double beds!!!!

Daren looks at all the leaves piling up and decides to hire a gardener
so he can continue painting. The gardener comes, looks at all the
leaves and departs immediately. Daren spends the day painting anyway
since he'll need money to pay the next set of bills. Dirk needs logic
skills to get promoted, so he decides to head off for the Duck Pond
city park when he gets home from work. He plays a while, gets the
skill he needs to be promoted, and meets Ashley Pitts and Vidcund
Curious. When he gets back, he tackles those leaves a bit before
heading off to bed. He secretly thinks his father should get a real
job, but doesn't say so out loud.

At the Broke house, life revolves around getting three people in and
out of one bathroom, feeding and changing the two babies and turning
the furniture so that the nannies can't use noisy objects. The
turning of objects has, once again, the nice side effect that the
nanny actually does some work. Dustin tries to build up his body
skills to get a promotion, but doesn't make much headway as he has to
help out around the house. Late that night, Brandy invites Darren
over. While she is wondering if he likes her the same way she likes
him, he lays a large kiss on her. Encouraged, she asks him to become
engaged. As the household is exhausted, Brandy kisses Daren good-bye
while Dustin calls for a nanny and--once again--uses the TV to block
the video game and moves the chair next to the computer. Brandy
thinks it is just as well she didn't marry Daren tonight as the
Dreamer house has a second bathroom.

The Oldies have a leasurely day. Coral invites in the passing Betty
Goldstein, Trisha Traveler and Lisa Ramirez. It was Lisa who had
invited Coral on such a nice vacation at Takemizu Tenting Pleasures.
Coral thinks Lisa is much happier since she sold that store and
concentrated on a medical career. Herb gets promoted, which is just
as well as the Oldies are spending their money now, not saving it for
the grave.

At the Burbs, money is really tight. Even though Jennifer is getting
maternity pay, Cement Mixers do not make much. John decides that he
better get some money coming in, so he starts digging holes in the
yard. He manages to find enough bones and rocks to sell to pay the
bills plus set aside enough for a crib. Though it is unclear where
they will put the crib, as the house is not designed for a family.
Lucy is pretty much red on fun, and has a hard time keeping barely
above the whining stage. Whatever it is she would enjoy doing, it
does not seem to be a part of their rather baren house. It does not
help that the computer is broken and everyone is afraid to try to fix
it.

The Pleasant girls spend the morning taking turns chatting on the
phone and the afternoon having water balloon fights with passers-by.
Mary Sue works out at the punching bag and loses her paunch. This
gives her enough energy to have a waterballoon fight with Bella Goth.
Daniel goes to work, then practices romance a little until he is ready
for promotion. He wants to whoohoo anything that moves, or maybe even
anything that will hold still. Mary Sue wants to Whoohoo Daniel, so
this works out well. Angela discovers she likes nature, which is good
as the gardener cannot keep up with raking the leaves.

Alexander calls up Lucy Burb to make friends, then heads off to
school. Don and Cassandra spend a leisurely morning reading about
cleaning. The leaves need raked, but it is ever so much more
comfortable to sit on the couch and read about cleaning than to
actually clean up something. Alexander had a great transition to
teenager. He finished the day by raking some leaves as, well,
somebody had to. Cassandra watched the ghosts move chairs around the
lawn and wondered why they couldn't rake a few leaves. In the wee
hours of the morning, Cassandra gave birth to little Howie. She
wanted to buy some of the new fancy cribs, but Don insisted on getting
one that the nanny could figure out how to use. He had to shout
across the house as his route to Come See Baby took him out of bed,
out into the hall, down the stairs, around the entry way, back up the
stairs, through the hall and back to the other side of the bed he
shares with Cassandra. Whew!

If only the house would clean itself while you read about it in RL.

Best wishes
