WRONG!!!!!! They won't move!! They stand there, don't do anything, no
looking around, no action whatsoever!!!

Are you sure you got all the hacks out. Did you remove any collections you
might of had - did you remove an altered wants tree? I didn't get as far as
still Sims when I first tried to upgrade to Uni because it wouldn't complete
the install until I uninstalled and reinstalled the base Sims2, even though
I was sure I had got all my downloads out.

I was pretty sure. Am I going to have to uninstall & reinstall again? When
I reinstalled, I moved the entire downloads folder out and then after
installation was *finally* successful, moved it back in. It just will not
work properly.

If nobody else can point out where you went wrong then you just may have to.
The symptoms you describe definitely sound like there's still something
third party in there.

You could try running the clean installer from mts2 through your downloads.
Or look at the list of working and non working custom content at that same
site. I installed/reinstalled several times before I got everything out
that needed out and the game worked.

Heard from someone else that if you take the download folder out completely
it causes problems. Try copying what is inside into another folder
elsewhere on your computer, so that there is still a folder named
"downloads" but it's empty. Then try running one of the houses in your
game.

Good luck!

You may want to run clean installer to clean up any possible custom content
that could be affecting your install.

you can find it at http://sims2pack.modthesims2.com/

Good luck

Yes, I hit that issue. 3rd party careers and hacks were the issue. I also
had problems loading lots at all. Actually I copied everything out of the
downloads directory and completely uninstalled and reinstalled the game with
no patches. I then used the clean installer to catalogue all of the
downloads into groups and move them back as groups one at a time. This
proved to be a lot of unnecessary work, for 3rd party careers, teen woohoo,
no jealousy hacks proved to be causing it. Recolours and the multi-painting
still work fine. I have since added replacements for the hacks as they are
becoming available for university. All of this was very frustrating for
about a day and it has worked fine since.

I wish it was just a day. I'm going on about 2 weeks now. And its really
fustrating. Being an Computer Engineering student, its not like I don't know
my way around the hardware and software issues. And if I thought that
University would fix my issues, then I would go out and get it.

However, since I have not seen any where in the NG's of my same issue, or of
anyone saying that University has fixed the same issue that I have, I am
reluctant to shell out the $35 for the EP.

I guess I was assuming that University was your problem for that was when
mine showed up. The Sims2 game did not cause any problems whatsoever other
that slowing down the system. I have two computer both asus, intel and ati
and both will run it fine. I have found however that some of the hacks came
with downloaded lots and sims and were unknown to me until I used the clean
installer to identify them. You may have that problem. Other than that I
don't have a solution.

At this point I am trying anything. Where would I find this Clean Installer?
I tried using a different set of drivers that someone suggested in a
different thread, and I came up with nothing. So I am willing to give
anything a shot once, or even twice if I like it. LOL

Here is the link for it in the attachment. What is does is identify what the
items in your download folder are. This will show up what the hacks are,
what are duplicate files etc. It's just a tool to allow you to remove what
you think might be a problem.

Thanks.

I'll be sure to post back with the results.

Well it was interesting to see.

However, nothing was in the downloads folder anywhere that I looked. So its
back to square one again.

On a side note, I finally got some kind of a response from EA, and while it
certainly did nothing for my issue. I at least have something going.
