How common are hackers on B.net?

I'm pretty new to Battlenet, although I've played SC obsessively for
years offline. I recognize that I have to learn how to play a very
different way against human opponents... still, I have pretty good
skills and I know the various units and their capabilities cold.

When I play on Bnet, I mostly get beaten, which is fine... I'm
learning. But sometimes when I check the stats after a game, it turns
out one player has gathered way more resources than anybody else --
twice as much, sometimes.

How can this be? One possibility that comes to mind is a hack... any
thoughts?

To make a long story short, mineral hacks and any other hacks that
affect the state of the game aren't possible in multiplayer. All the
computers in a multiplayer geame keep track of what's going on in the
game, and check with each other to make sure nobody's trying to cheat.
You can have a program running that goes into the game's memory and
gives you, say, 10000 minerals. But as soon as you try to spend those
minerals, the other computer(s) in the game will say "Sorry, you don't
have that much," and disconnect you.

Anyway, most people who are new to multiplayer don't realize how fast
resources (especially minerals) can be collected. In general, you
should be constantly pumping out workers and having them collect
minerals. You won't be able to max out your mineral income until you
have at least 2.5 workers for each mineral patch at your base.

Also, when you finish building a new "town hall" at an expansion site,
you should immediately take half the workers at your main base and
send them over to mine at the expansion. The pump out workers at
_both_ bases until you get back up to 2.5-3 workers per mineral patch.

The overall point is that you should build a _lot_ of workers. If you
do it right, you should have money coming out of your ears.

Hope this helps.

Newbies + one experienced player. If someone expands, and makes way more
probes then anyone else does then then they can easilly get double the
resources.

i think that they expand and have 2.5-3 peons on each thing of minerals,
instead of using a hack. if you want to get better at playing online,
you should try playing overwind. %^}

On the contrary. I find that playing vs overwind actually degrades ones'
performance. :-)

Afterall, losing 100 games out of 100 games, ones' morale does get
demotivated. ^_^

I sent the mail yesterday!
anyway the infos he contained are no longer working, so nevermind, a friend
will set a new ftp server today, then i'll send you another mail.

Also about warcraft 3, it's not perfect :
unbalanced races
45 fighters max if you kill all your workers :(
most people play b.netd servers, so get ready to be hacked :p

BUT :
the heroe is a great feature
it has the good things from old strs(bunch of buildings/upgrade you need to
build fast as the lightning)
it looks great and works on low configs(from pII 400 128Mo+3D card)
it's not too late to start playing it and become a gosu before your friends.

Now if someone else wanna duel me, i'd rather do it on diablo2LOD, @ least
there i win ;)

Yes. It would be helpful if I ever met that same person on Battlenet and to

That is just so wrong.

Our hacks ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Show complete map.

Show everything on minimap.

Allow you to select unseen units on main map.

Name spoof of course.

Name spoof correction for ip-bannable name characters in other
people's names. I.E. fixes their name before leaving game so you
don't get ip-banned by server when you send game report.

Send idle workers to the nearest patch(to the nearest base) that
doesnt have enough workers mining it(based on distance to that base).

Order idle SCVs to repair damaged units within a certain distance.

Automatically create interceptors and scarabs.

Automatically unallies and unvisions when someone unallies you.

Show every players ally state, vision state, minerals, gas, race,
name, and IP.

Tells you during game when one person unallies another.

Allow dropping anyone by name or partial name, i.e. "drop *ermi*"
instantly drops Overmind or Fermi.

Has drop deflection if someone tries to drop you, it blocks it and
counters by dropping them in retaliation.

Automatically sets extra high latency as the first packet of the game.
Displays ping times of everyone in the game.

Order units that are 'moving' to a rally point to 'attack-move'
instead.(Wonderful for setting up a bunch of hatcheries and pumping
cracklings against any enemy -- they are hatched and go attack enemy
without you having to change their orders.)

Auto-restore for medics. Your unit or a nearby ally unit gets
irradiated, locked down, etc, medic casts restore instantly.

Auto-feedback for DAs. Nearby enemy unit with sufficient energy? DA
takes care of him without your intervention.

Botnet - our own server for talking during the game, so we can talk
openly in front of everyone including allies, and no one will hear us.
Good for backstabbing our allies.

Custom messages to screen. Of course we can say anything in any color
and formatting on the game console, and everyone or select people will
see it. Send to just one or two people to get them to backstab
someone. Can spoof a message from their ally to them if you want.

Nearly all of these features have commands or hotkeys to toggle them
on/off for those you don't want at a particular time.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm sure I forgot a handful of other things it does but you get the
point. Map hack is not the only thing you can do if you put your
minds to it.
By the way, for those who will ask, these hacks are never distributed
to anyone else, so we do not promote widespread cheating on
Battle.net, we just do it ourselves :)
That was what had me surprised. I'm not sure of his rationale to plonk me,
hence the question mark.
The reason why I plonk the original author was because he posted links
and/or claim that he has hacks.
Interesting. You, an outspoken illegal user of warcraft III beta,
plonking someone for posting a link to his programmer clan's web page.
Yet you freely admit stealing from Blizzard and playing unauthorized
on bnetd servers. I bet you even believe your own justifications for
doing so in each case.
What a hypocrit.
At least what I do is for academic pursuit and just plain fun, and
never do I distribute hacks. Hell, if our hacks got out, it would
ruin Battle.net as a fun place to play Starcraft. At least right now
all anybody else has are name spoofers and map hacks. The stuff in
ours makes theirs look like preschool stuff.
I'm a hacker. But my breed are rare among the masses. I can tell you
how much supply you have, how much supply you have used, your
minerals, gas, the upgrades you have, the technologies you have, and
whether or not you have allied victory enabled (The last one is really
good for detecting BSers) Surprisingly enough though, the trouble I
have to go through (minimize Starcraft, run the RAM poker, select the
Brood War process, open the memory address table file PANT PANT PANT)
to get that information makes it worthless in melee because not only
am I dead by then, but also the good players rarely have more than a
few hundred minerals because they're constantly using them to pump out
their forces and defense and upgrade. So I can see that you have used
100 supply. Yay. Now I know I'm about to get owned. That helped a
lot. I haven't and definitely won't write a program that prints it
all out on the screen for you. Maphack is bad enough, and 1 out of
about 20 I'd say use that. But most people who use maphack don't
stand a chance against a good player because good players don't have
to use maphack. I don't even use maphack (not even against the
computer, who always use maphack :). And don't bother asking me where
you can find it. :p Although once, by sheer accident, I was messing
around with the RAM poker in a game against only computers trying to
find out which memory address has stored what color you are (Still
haven't found it) and cloaked my main hatchery. At first I didn't
notice it. Then the computer rushed me with lings lots rines and had
me down to that last hatchery but never attacked it. Unfortunately
for me I had already terminated the RAM poker and given up on finding
the color address and lost all that information. I'm sure it wouldn't
work on battlenet but you never know....
Next time you're on battle.net, log on use-bncs02 and come to Clan
[vL]. You might have heard of Valhalla Legends, as we can do all that
you described and much more, but we don't have to tab out of the game.
However we do not believe in releasing our hacks. We're in it for the
fun of creation, and keep our hacks heavily encrypted so that it is
extremely unlikely that someone could ever get it working on their
machine. Ours is a DLL that we load in the Starcraft process space and
hook into various functions such that we can write to the screen and
see everything without tabbing out of the game.
We also have the color table information you're looking for, as we use
it to have Starcraft draw colored circles around the units anyone has
selected, using their own color. Thus if player Blue clicks on your
hatchery or something, a blue circle will appear around it on your
screen. Same as the circles you see in team melee, only they're
colored to match the owner index.
Just some of the features, nearly all features are toggleable by a
keypress or /cmd:
full map - main and mini
attack destination marks -- draws a little 'x' wherever any unit has a
destination
converts rally-move to attack-move. set a rally point for your
hatcheries in enemy base, pump cracklings like mad, and when they
hatch and start running with MOVE, the hack converts them to
attack-move.
auto-mining .. as each worker is created at a
workerfactory(hatch,nexus,cc), it is given orders to gather from the
nearest available mineral patch that doesnt already have the ideal
number of workers assigned to it, as calculated by distance function
from the workerfactory.
auto-unally -- if someone unallies you in a game, this notifies you
on-screen, unallies them and turns off vision to them. the ultimate
anti-backstab.
playerinfo -- like yours, tells minerals, gas, allies, enemies, and
allied victory settings of a person. currently i dont display supply
or usage but easily could(0x006b6000).
By the way, what you did was change the owner id of the hatchery from
your id to that of one of the computers. Once you did that, its
vision was calculated and displayed from the perspective of not being
yours, and that's why the enemy didn't attack it, it was an allied
building.
Note that had you done that in a multiplayer game, it would have
immediately desync'd and disconnected you from the other players.
