Autoexec.bat
config.sys
these files appear in c:\(boot root)
the command such as "device=x:\xxx\xxcdrom.sys" likes this in config.sys.
the command such as "lh mscdex.exe /d:xxxxxxxx" (lh will not appear in some
case...)
JUST REMOVE THE ABOVE COMMAND FROM UR CONFIG&AUTOEXEC!
from kelvin.c ( need powerful starcraft cracks, thankx)

Check with Dell, some of their PC's (and laptops) require an upgrade to
run 98 properly... its been on most of the big tech news sites (like Cnet)

Generally you don't see that kind of behavior in a major appliance.

Rename the file "cdfs.vxd" to something else. This file is in
\windows\system\iosubsys. Get the Win95 version from the Windows 95 CDROM.
Starcraft has a major problem with the Windows 98 cdfs.vxd..... The Windows
95 cdfs.vxd is in one of the first cabs.... not sure which one. Copy that
into the folder where the 98 version of cdfs.vxd is. That fixed my
Starcraft.

cdfs.vxd is in win95_03.cab in my upgrade version CD. If you are running
IE4, just double click the file in explorer. Overwriting the Win98
version fixed Starcraft for me too (yay).
Someone previously mentioned on this NG it had something to do with SCSI
systems. FWIW I have a SCSI CD and HDD, but I am not convinced this
problem is specific to SCSI systems.
