I got the source to Quake way back in april 97, I was involved with the
port to the amiga. I am not sure how well it will end up on the psx, what
with the psx having its own 3d functions etc. I have heard that quake 2
will be out by cristmas so if that can be ported then I am sure this can.
I am currently also looking for the libarys for using the multitap and the
dual shock controler, if you could ask anyone you know about this I would
be a great help. I need the dual shock for quake and multitap suport for
mabey quake and a micromachines game i am designing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
bye
Jon
Be nice if you can do it though :-) There are routines about that
demonstrate the Dual-Shock (no source but dis-asming should be no problem to
you if you are attempting a Quake port :-) the link is :-

Or it was last time I looked.

Thre are plenty of reasons why Quake would not port straight to the PSX,
not least of which is processor speed. Quake relies on BSP three d
routines to get its nice architectural look, which if implemented
directly on the psx (assuming the psx had the 12 megs of memor or so
required for it) then I can assume at the lowest res it would update
somewhere in the region of once every 5 minutes; meaning to get quake
running fast you would need to use the proper psx functions which would
mean it not looking like quake...
