It's supposedly the team who did Newman Haas (Studio 33?). Given that NH
wasn't horrifically bad, F1 '99 might be a bit better.

I thought Newman Haas was better than F1-97 anyway - much more fun and
enjoyable. Also the fact that you could change the cars set up during
qualifying also helped a great deal (made it more like a sim than F1 97).
The actual driving bit and graphics were not much different but the
interface, options and gameplay i.e. 6 cars on track during a two player
mode (makes it still the best 2 player driving game available). Also any
game with Laguna Seca gets a thumbs up from me.
Basically if you haven't tried it yet and you like driving games why not
give it a go - you won't be disappointed.
I'm now looking forward to F1-99 - though I understand that Newman Haas 2 is
on it's way too.

Newman-Haas is probably the most played game on my Playstation -
probably because the missus is a big Jimmy Vasser and Alex Zanardi
fan, but also because it's damn good fun. Laguna Seca is probably the
finest circuit in the world; that Corkscrew is fantastic. (For the
uninitiated, it's a downhill chicane - breathtaking.)
F1'97 has better graphics, better commentary (despite Martin "You're
right there, Murray" Brundle) and a more polished feel (apart from
some bloody annoying bugs), but NH wins in the fun stakes.
Given that it was based on the original F1 engine rather than the
F1'97 one, I think the developers did a damn fine job on it. If
they're doing F1'99, I'm reasonably hopeful of a return to form for
the franchise.

I know that Psygnosis <http://www.psygnosis.com/> have confirmed that
they'll be publishing Formula 1 99 on PlayStation this year.
But does anyone know who the developer is?
I know it's not Bizarre Creations <http://www.bizarrecreations.com/>, nor
Polyphony Digital (I wish) <http://www.polyphony.co.jp/>.
So is it Visual Sciences <http://www.vissci.com/> again (hopefully they've
played Gran Turismo since Formula 1 98, and are aware of upcoming Gran
Turismo 2, and Grand Prix 3 for PC), or is it someone new?
High revvingly yours,
Pasene R. Faifua.

1. You can win a race by 2 seconds on a track that takes 30 seconds to go
around. When the standings come up...Placings 2-15 will be like 25 seconds
behind and up. And the last car...will show as 1 lap down. Even though the
next one up will be 2 minutes behind. <long lap I guess>
2. I've knocked off all the wheels on my car and had shadows where the
tires where once and the car still acts like it has wheels.
3. Homestead Racetrack: The default record is like 28 seconds. Impossible
to get under 30 seconds driving the car in the game. Complete all laps at
200+mph and the meter in the corner shows lap speeds of 178 or less at all
times.
4. Flip your car near a wall and when the car flips back over...the wheels
get stuck on the wall. No way to get off and AI won't end the race.
Probably a few more that I'm forgetting.
