Well right now after seeing what the next simcity looks like i am grabbing
my SC4 cd and installing it again. Simcity Societies just looks... wrong for
some reasons:
Too much cartoon influence, everything is too clean and not sharp enough (or
too sharp in some screenshots).
Things are oversaturated, blocky and fake.
All those screenshots and not one one-way road? Is the only road you can
build two lanes on each side?
Also seems like an absence of traffic on the roads and footpaths.
So far no screenshorts zoomed all the way out, unless zoomed all the way out
is very close anyway.
Somehow skyscrapers are not tall enough, everything looks miniature, and
either too neat or too messy.
Roundabouts look horribly messy and even more square than in SC4. (see
http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3160151&sec=PREVIEWS)
Benefits are camera freedom, however this does not compensate for ugly
blocky buildings or bad textures.
Visual feedback such as smog is actually is as a result of your sims moods,
not traffic or pollution.
What about a highway, monorail, subway, or a tram? Are we restricted to
small neighbourhood like cities?
I must admit that i am most disappointed in the new simcity. I was expecting
SC5 to be a modern skyscraper city builder, with the ability to make rural
towns as well, and most of all a 3D fully controllable camera. A new fresh
look for SC4 with a twist, maybe more on economic development, or on world
issues such as global warming, drought, and other things that effect how a
city grows Unfortunately you cant win them all....
