I was just thinking, isn't it going to really change the game when
there are only 4 attack buttons? I mean, how on earth will the computer
be able to distinguish when you want to chain two quick jabs, or use a
strong punch? What will this do to the chain combos? If Capcom wanted
to have separate "tag" buttons for each character, they should have
ADDED extra ones, not taken away attack buttons and tried to make
medium attacks, well, bootleg. The buttons are really gonna be breaking
quickly with all the double tapping...
How would you do, say, Strider's standing jab->strong->forward->fierce?
Tap jab, then jabjab really quick, shortshort really quick, fierce?
Isn't that a little bit difficult (especially when controls usually
aren't pinpoint accurate)? I'm just afraid that this is going to
totally change the mechanics of the game, and make it simpler.

Who knows how it will work?

I've heard that jab, short, jab, short, fierce, roundhouse is gonna be
the new "magic series." Then I've heard jab one time will produce a
"jab," followed by a second jab will produce a "strong." Then there's
your proposal(which I've also heard elsewhere) that jab-jab quickly will
produce a strong.

I dunno, considering this isn't Tekken, I don't think jab-jab will make a
"strong." Think of it this way. Fine, jab-jab produces a strong output.
In another words, the computer doesn't register any action on your part
until you hit the second jab. That also means if you want to do a single
jab, the computer has to "wait" a split second to see if you depress a
second jab to produce a "strong." It works in Tekken because the game
pace is slower and plus generally speaking, Tekken moves are done in
advance to what you see on the screen. That includes throws most
obviously, but even certain special moves come out noticeably AFTER
you've pressed the keys(like Hwoarang's 4~3, if you know what I'm talking
about). Anyway, yeah, that would cripple the game too much and like you
said, this would make the game too difficult. Nobody would use strong
attacks.

An alternative is to have the every character's jab animation "flow" into
a strong animation in case the player inputted a second jab. That's a
serious difficulty on the graphics end cuz uh.. you'd have to do that for
short attacks as well, and that'd make the game look pretty retarded.

My view on this whole thing is this is a way to reduce
Infinities. I dunno if somebody mentioned that before, but that's
TOTALLY the way I see it. Besides the DC compatibility(although I doubt
that will be an issue cuz I'm sure some of the special assists require
using combinations of the assist buttons with the attack buttons),
infinities will most certainly be reduced. Gambit's jab, short, jab,
short is now gonna produce jab, short, strong, forward. You can't do
RV's corner infinite of strong, fierce, strong, fierce cuz there is no
strong button. All infinites I can think of off hand use normal attacks
to keep them going, but if the normal attacks are seriously crippled,
there goes the infinities. Of course, stuff like WM's air semi-inf and
ChunLi's pseudo air inf won't be affected,... I dunno. I should probably
shut up now because I'm sure MvC2 will have tons of infinites, too, but
that's just my take on it.

Well, there are hardly any jab jab combos in MvC, so they'll probably be
eliminated in favor of Strong or forward. I think they should just eliminate
jab and short altogether for MvC, and make the weaker attacks strong and
forward style. Maybe it sounds like heresy but come on it's versus so who
cares right?
