I was just wondering. . .
What are some of the translations for Chun Li's moves? What do, Kikoken,
Kikosho, Tenshokya, and Mattai(?) Tenshokya. Also, what is she saying when
she does her super lightinging kick?

The translations for Kikkoken and Kikkosho are most likely wrong, and I
have no idea what Hasan means (or even if I spelled it right). I'm pretty
sure everything else is right, though.
On a side note, are my friends and I the only ones that think "Sen Retsu
Kyaku" sounds like "Chun-Li Kick" when she says it? ^_^

I'm confused about the name of her Rising Kick SC. Before she does the
move, while crouching, she says something that sounds absoulutely nothing
like "Hasan." Sounds more like "Mattai," or "Maddai" to me.

The Alpha1 guide calls it Hazan Tensho kyaku. I know no language other
than English, but obviously 'sho' means rising/rise and 'kyaku' means kick.
The English version of the tensho kyaku is 'Rising Bird Kick' and 'Brave
Mountain Rising Heaven Kick' is the super. The question is whether this is
an actual translation, or something new someone cooked up. It seems so
strange, I'd say the probabilty is high its a bad translation, involving
syllables that have many meanings. Does anyone know what 'Hazan/Hasan' or
'Ten' means? Is the conglomerate meaning something else? Also:

Does anyone know what 'Hazan/Hasan' or 'Ten' means? Is the

Hazan is formed of two kanji - Ha, or brave/supreme, and zan, mountain.
Therefore, "Supreme Mountain" or "Brave Mountain." Ten means heaven.

Kikko in Chinese which means Qi Guong, a famous Chinese martial art.
Did people call it qi guong in English or it has another name? so
kikkoken means qi guong punch...

I don't have the KanJi name of these move, so i couldn't do any
translations, can somebody please send the kanji name of Chun-Li's move to
me if u have it? so i could do the translations.
and, all the move names that chun-li yells out are in JAPANESE!! but it's
cool anyway...

(It looks a bit like that anyway), reads as Ten. Rather than heavenly I think a
better translation is "divine" or godlike.
Incidentally, Akuma translates as devil from Japanese. There he's called Gouki
(which is pronounced Go-key as opposed to "gooky", which sounds a bit stupid).
Anybody out there know what Gouki means? I can tell you that Super Akuma or whatever
you want to call him in English is known as Shin Gouki in Japan. Shin means
god/spirit etc as in Shinto, the Japanese religion.

How about gomen-ne? In the illustration gallery in SFA2, this is what Chun-li is
saying, and she also says it as one of her finishing poses. I'm guessing that it's
something like "sorry", because gomen nasai means "sorry" in Japanese. Can anybody
confirm this?

Gou in Gouki means Strong or Powerful.Ki means Demon in Japan(In

Gouki is a name,so you don't translate it,but if you do,it would mean
"Powerful Demon".
Shin in Shingouki is a different Kanji from the one means God/spirit.
Thi Shin means true or real.

You're right.Gomen-ne means "sorry!" in Japanese,and it sounds like
girl-talk.
In boy-talk,it would be "Gomen-yo".
All Guy's move sounds rather archaic,which shows his
school(Bushin-Ryu),
has a long history.

Ummm. . . People do read FAQ's, yet some of the things one may want to know
aren't in a FAQ. Thats were this newsgroup comes in. I haven't seen ONE
SFA2 FAQ with the exact translation for what Chun Li is saying and no where
have I ever seen the japanese names for her lightning kick moves.

For instance, I have seen this move named "Brave Mountain Heavenly Asencion
Kick." Lotta good FAQ's do when they aren't right or give prosaic names
like "Rising Kick" or "Fireball."

Besides, some of the things she says sound nothing like what people have
said. When she does her rising kick and firebal, she sounds like she's
saying "It's Okay" in two different voices. I could see how those would
fit into "Kikoken" and "Tenshokya." When she does her super rising kick, I
swear that I could not hear one "S" sound when she starts it. It sounds
like "Mattai" instead of "Hasan" And in her lightning kick super, what
happens to the lasy syllable? I can hear "Sen Retsu" (Which, of course,
sounds like "Sen Lise" to me.), buy what happened to the "Kya?" I only
hear 3 syllables and don't hear a "K" sound in there anywhere. . .

Shin in this case (Shin Gouki) is used with a different Kanji which stands for

No. This is untrue. The Kanjis are not the same.
You got it right for GouKi, but AkuMa's kanjis are "evil" and "demon",
while the word's meaning is "(a) Devil", or just "Demon".
As everybody (!) knows, GouKi is "Great" "Ogre", or "Demon".
"Onis" are the kind of trolls you see in some japanese animes. They
often have only one eye or one or two horns, and are red or blue.
Of course, here, the meaning is not exactly the same...
(Akuma doesn't wear a human costume... :)

Could you tell me where you saw a kanji for ryu's name? It is always
written in romaji, or kana. If Ryu indeed means dragon, it can mean
a lot of other things, as it can mean just nothing at all.
Seing the word "ryu" does not mean it's "dragon". It's just Ryu, that's
it.

people in this newsgroup... I'm very pleased about that!
I wrote a small FAQ about a year ago, for the japanese names of the
moves
in SFA. It's quite out of date, talking about SFA2, but it's still good
for the oldest chars like Chun li, Ryu...
Also, I did include a little extra section to explain how to read and
pronounce these words. If you can speak english, you shouldn't have
anymore
problems with pronoucing the moves names after you (carefully) read
this.
So, seing the interest everybody had for that kind of thing, I decided

Fei Long is written in Katakana which is used for non-japanese
words(most of the time). So in his name, they're probably referring to the
Chinese pronounciation/meaning. And Ryu's kanji is different that the
"ryu' in shoryuken

I've only seen it a couple times. Ryu, Chun-Li, Retsu, and Lee You-ku and
some guy named "Kon Lon" are all printed on a Japanese CD drama called
"Majin no Shouzou".

Yeah. Gouki, Gouken, and Goutetsu all have different "Gou"s.
If you have a Japanese Word Processor of some sort I can try and send the
kanjis to you, or I could try and post them here.

Yes it is.
Japanese has many words with the same pronounciation.
In this case,Ki(as in Chi) and Ki(as in Devil) are two
different Kanji with the same pronounciation.
And Ki in Gouki means Demon or devil.

That brings up an interesting question. What was Akuma/Gouki's name
before he...turned to the Dark Side? (Anyone says Anakin, and I nuke
'em till they glow!:) I doubt his mother would have named him 'Great
Demon'...he'd have had a traumatic childhood. :) Personally, I like the
'Great Spirit' for a good 'Gouki'...but just my own personal opinion.
