I was wondering about the the RAM for the Saturn and lanague converters.
You see I have an english Saturn (40 bucks, cheap! I can't complain!)
and need to buy those things that helps Japanses Saturn Games run on
english. I've seen them in the stores for about 19 bucks. I just don't
know the true name for them. So for the sake of the letter I'll them
converters.
Anyways I'm planning on ordering Vampire Savior (about damn time!) and
before I get it I need to know about the 4 RAM thing and the converters.
I wanted to know if ether of those two things work somewhat like a game
genie. What I'm trying to say is can you plug in a RAM into a converter
or vice versa or not? I'd like to know ASAP.
I know I should check a store but I'm carless and couldn't drive if I
have a car (15 here folks) and most trasporation isn't being used
because my friend's age or parents lazyness.
Anyways thanks for at the least reading and mucho thanks if you can help
me answer the question!

This is how it works:
When u buy a converter, u put it into the slot on your Saturn before u turn it
on, and put in a Japanese game (e.g. Vampire Savior). Then when u turn on the
system the converter fools the computer into thinking u are loading an American
game instead of a Japanese one. So then u choose "Run Application" or whatever
the circle in the upper-lefthand corner of the menu is. Then when the screen
changes into the Sega logo, u quickly take out the converter and put in the RAM
cart. This has to be done in about 1 second for most games (except XvsSF when
you have a shitload of time). So that's that. The Japanese game should now load
on your American system.
As for the Pro Action Replay, or 4 in 1, well I hear that they're good but
personally I haven't ever seen one being sold in a store. U have to special
order them from somewhere like BuyRite. And recently a lot of people have been
having trouble with them. So if u can get your hands on a converter like STKey
and a 4MB ram cart then I'd just settle for that.
NEVER recommend pulling a cartridge out of a live connection. The
electricity might jump out at you. Oh, and the chances are a couple of swaps
and your machine will either start to malfunction (i.e. he just made himself
a $40 doorstop), or your cartridge port is toast. It's same as ripping a
Genesis/SNES cartridge out of the slot while the machine is on, it wouldn't
damage the system right away, but it'll start to wear from all that sparks
coming out of that live connectors.
cool, i think you should rip your modem out of your computer while
it's on a couple times, let me know what happens =)
