I don't know how you saw this......supposedly the game is still in production.
Maybe a demo copy?
It was released a few days early. There are reviews on the sega newsgroup.
Time to pre-order a Dreamcast.

How come no one's commenting on the 4-player mode? I'm really interested
in hearing what's this like. If you and a friend super jump, does the
screen split for the other two guys on the ground, or...what?
For that matter, is it even that playable? Something tells me that with 4
people controlling a different character, each doing supers and etc., you
couldn't tell what they hey you're doing. Hell, I lose track of where I am
during a Variable Cross, half the time.
Speaking of, are Variable Cross / Combinations still in the game? I assume
if you use one, you get full Hyper Combo power, but you still control just
your own character?

You avoid using hell in the second sentence and then turn right around
and use it right at the begining of the third :)
And yes, I get confused during variable cross ups too, but the casual
scrub doesn't care and is mashing like hell.
