Well, I'm just wondering if people notice/care about the music that goes
on in fighting games, so if you'd like please let us know what you feel is
the best music you've heard in a fighting game
(If I opened this up to all games, I'd probably get nothing but FF7
bullshit so I have to restict it [sorry, FF7's music sucked. Just because
it sounds classical doesn't make it good. There is such a thing as sucky
classical music.])
And if you feel that a game sucks, it doesn't _have to_ mean the music
does, OK?
Here's my votes:
5) Yang -SF3 2nd -Action movie edit! the song just shouldn't
end...
4) Balrog -SFIIX -His Z3 is OK, but the more Spanish one here is
just better, isn't it?
3) Iori Team -KOF96, 98 -Excellent saxophone playing here
2) Ryu -SF Zero, Z2 -A classic, especially Zero's rolling bass
1) Jazzy NYC -SF3, SF32nd -basically any version but Alex's from 2nd
Impact is the best

Actually, the Action Movie Edit of "Crowded Street" is Yun's
version. Yang's is the Drum & Bass Mix. (BTW, you'll find my MIDI of
the former at http://www.vgmusic.com <plug>. Set your media player on
repeat and it'll never have to end!)

Ummmm....yeah, I do!
The above tracks are keen and all, but the title would have to go to Bust
a Groove. The entire soundtrack kicks ass! And yeah, it's a fighting
game, so there. ;p

My top ten:
1. KoF '95 AoF Team theme
2. KoF '95 Rival Team theme
3. TK2 Yoshimitsu's theme
4. SFA2 Gen's theme
5. SS1 Amakusa's theme
6. FFS Ryo's Theme
7. FFS Mai's Theme
8. KoF '96 Hero Team (second round remix for home versions)
9. Any BGM from MK1 ;P
10. RBFF Duck King's theme (heeheheheh)
SNK really creams the competition when it comes to music, needless to say.

That gets a word up! and then some. It sounded like MIDI music, honestly.
I can think of three tunes I liked in that game (and they were pretty damn
good), which is nothing compared to the many cool tracks in any other FF
game.

Blue Mary's jazzy little number in KoF. Elena's stage in SF3:21, I love the
way that the song just sets up the atmosphere. Finally, Vega's stage in SF2.

My fave music in a video game has got to be the music in Bust a move (called
Bust a Groove in the U.S.). Go Kitty-N!!! ^_^
Well ok, it's not really a fighting game but it is kinda! Just that your
special moves are dance moves ^_^.
But pure fighting, it's gotta be Z3 Karin's for me (surprise surprise)

SNK is the undisputed champ for fighting game music. I have just about every
SNK soundtrack on my computer in MP3s.
Wan Fu's Stage - SS1
Mudman's Stage - WH2
Sieger's Stage - SS2
Adon's Stage - SFA
the Church Stage - SFEX2
are beautiful pieces of work, very powerful in their orchestrations.
And if you consider Technos' 'Combatribes' a fighting game the tunes from
stage 2, the stage 2 boss,
stage 3, stage 3 boss,
stage 4,
stage 5 and stage 5 boss are good as well

By the way, did anyone ever beat that game? {:)
10. Shingo Yabuki, KoF '97/'98
9. Jubei Yamada, Fatal Fury Special

I dont know why I like the old nes megaman music...probably because I would
love to hear it remade in some sort of capcom game...
cuz it's really good stuff!
MegaMan 2 and 3 had such simple sweet music...
for some really good capcom 8-bit music, track down code name viper and duck
tales

Hey, right on!
Bubbleman's MM2 tune and Magnetman MM3 tunes are still some of my all time
favorites. Strider had good music, too, and Bionic Commando just rocked!

Practically most of the BGM in "SF2" were pretty good, IMO. The revamped
songs in "SSF2" were even sweeter, & the New Challengers' BGM were also
good. SSF2's intro was real good too, but "SSF2T" was so-so.
