I'll clarify and specify:

Keep those OFFENSIVE thoughts to yourself.

Everyone has a right to speak their mind. No one has the right to offend
people at will.

contradicting yourself is NOT a good way to clarify and specify
according to you, i have the right to speak my mind...yet if
what is on my mind is offensive to someone (which it most
assuredly will be since people seem to be offended at the drop of
the proverbial hat) then i do NOT have the right to speak my mind...
forget about what's on other people's minds for a bit and take
some time to make up yours :)

I REALLY don't want to carry this thread on any longer, but you didn't
understand what I was saying.

You see, there's a way to do things without offending others....it's called
using respect. When you state your opinion with respect for the other
person, it's very likely that the other person won't get offended. If they
do, then the problem is probably with them, not with you.

Really though, since this is a SF newsgroup, that opinion didn't need to be on
here at all. Plus, I don't think this is the newsgroup where that thread
originated. I REALLY should've left it alone...and lookey at what it turned
into. :)

Ah well. Still, my point is that there's a way to present an opinion that
would conflict with another's opinion. If you use respect, you'll get it
back.

admittedly i jumped into the thread a bit late and didn't
care to read the previous posts as they had absolutely
nothing to do with my commentary, i was merely commenting
on the logical contradiction present your quoted statement

on the subject of respect and/or restraint in phrasing i
have little to say and would prefer to voice my opinion
on that in a more appropriate forum (alt.philosophy, mayhap)
all i had to say, i said: if what is on my mind is offensive
then, as you said, i should not be allowed to voice my
offensive opinion, even though you maintain, in the sentence
previous, that everyone has a right to speak his/her mind.
the two statements, taken in succession, prove to be
contradictory.

as i do not wish to have to read the rest of this thread

this up to nothing more than a philosopher entertaining
himself and trying to bring a little logic into the lives

Actually, I consider the original post to be highly offensive. The world isn't
just made up of god-friendly types, you know.

Hey....that sounds like me! :)

Actually, though, He'd probably play maddening mind games with you, too. I
could see it now...you sit there...He throws you. YES! :)

Okay...let this thread die now.

Strictly speaking, that was God, not Jesus. A fight against Jesus probably
wouldn't be very exciting; he'd let you beat him, then he'd suddenly get all
his energy back and leave the game, and you'd start to have a lot tougher
time against any character who liked him in the first place.
A fight against his dad, that's one you'd have to worry about. Press
start, choose character, then watch yourself get KO'ed instantly with any of
a variety of unblockable supers (drowning, burning, swallowed by an animal,
turned into a pillar of salt, etc.).

Yep. I couldn't figure out where the first poster got 'swarm of
nails' from -- I figured he might have been thinking 'swarm', but got the
object wrong.

Does that mean that God would be cheap? Would being swallowed by a
whale be considered a throw, and be tech-able? Hm.

Actually I envision a super like Orochi's, with a bright light just
appearing and you get the crap kicked out of you. Then by some luck you
beat him, he resurrects ala Gill. But being the benevolent, "Turn the
other cheek" person He is, His Father will just take you and send you to
hell, with a super like Blackheart's where Hellions just take you and
make life miserable for you.

I think that a character that instantly devastates you with one easy move
can't really be called cheap. If you choose to battle a character like that,
you pretty much cross the line between his being cheap and your being stupid.

It wouldn't be any more tech-able than, say, being swallowed by Sasquatch
in Darkstalkers, or made into an egg by Q-Bee, or stuffed into Anakaris'
sarcophagus. i.e. NO.

I don't know, God sounds like a glitch to me. Let's wait and see if those one hit
kills are in the home version.

Well it depends on the game... aren't holds techable in A3, as well as throws? It
depends on if it's a special throw or not... hm, I guess a whale is probably
special, so the answer would still be no.

Been turned into a pillar of salt, that's one move I'd like to see in the
next Darkstalker game.

Good question. It'd really depend on the move. Right now, I'm willing to say
that it's tech hittable.
