I was always of the mind that his name was Charlie Nash. It's a decent name,
I guess, and an easy way to explain why people refer to him as both Charlie
and Nash.

As for Ryu's last name, it darned well better not be Hayabusa. :)

He's referring to the RUMOR that Instead of killing him, M. Bison
turns Charlie in to Blanka.
And by the way Blanka's real name is Jimmy

There is no rumour. It never happened. Charlie and Blanka are not the
same character (of course this is ignoring all that bullshit "US
continuity", which deserves to be ignored anyway).
And I don't know if Charlie has an official last name. He's either
"Nash" or "Charlie", though "Charlie Nash" is at least tolerable even if
it's probably not official.
And while I'm on the subject, Ryu has no last name. End of story.

Right.

Right. I meant to convey that the information wasn't true, but still
explain the Charlie-Blanka (non)connection.

So does 'Cammy' mean anything? :p

Interesting. I knew that it was beacuse of the toyline that Capcom
slapped the last name onto Ken, but I didn't know it was because of
Barbie's Ken.
Oh, and some characters in the SF world *do* have last/full names.
Examples include:
- Sakura (Kasugano)
- Sean (Matsuda)
- Cammy (guess ^_^)
- Dan (Hibiki)
- (Edmond) Honda
- Fei Long (I think that's his full name - Could be wrong)
- Karin (Kanzuki)
And of course Ken MAsters :)
I've seen Rolento as having the last name "Schugerg", though I don't
know how official that is. I think's legit though...
is "rainbow" the first name, and "mika" the last name?
You forgot Mike Bison (Japanese).

Nash has no 'official' last name. Ryu has no 'official' last name. Nash
had his name changed to Charlie when SF Zero became SF Alpha... I guess
it made the game more 'America-friendly'. A lot of people just assumed
Charlie's last name was 'Nash'. The origins of Ryu's supposed 'Last
Name' came from the horrible horrible SF2 movie. After that, people
assumed that 'Hoshi' was Ryu's last name. Of course, most japanese last
names are at least 3 syllables, and 'hoshi' doesn't really mean
anything... but hey, neither does 'Zangief'.
Here's an interesting bit of trivia... this is also where Ken Masters
got HIS last name. Notice how nobody else has a last name in the SF
world? They couldn't put out an action figure with just the name 'Ken'
because the copyright was held by Mattel (for Barbie's gigolo lover
guy). So they slapped the last name 'masters' onto him to distinguish
him (Kinda like Vanessa L Williams and Vanessa T Williams in Hollywood).
What was even more interesting was that the name stuck and Capcom
decided to use it.
--Cammy, the trivial Scrub
if Hoshi had another i at the end..it'd mean "want"..but that doesn't make
sense anyway..

Sakura, according to the games, has no last name. 'Kasugano' was a name tacked on by the creator of the 'Sakura Ganbaru' manga, who Capcom endorsed. They didn't
come up with it, he did. ^_^
> - Sean (Matsuda)
Don't know Sean's story, I stayed away from SF3 as soon as I realized how abusive parries were (the art turned me off, and the parries made me hate it).
> - Cammy (guess ^_^)
Cammy actually officially has no last name either. The 'White' came from the SF2 Animated Movie.
> - Dan (Hibiki)

He's chinese... Chinese people have 3 names. Last, first, middle (in that order). Even Bruce Lee's screen name had 3 names (Lee Hsiao Long). It's not his full
name.
> - Karin (Kanzuki)
Karin, Honda and Dan are probably the only ones who have real (notable) last names.
As for R.Mika, no, Rainbow is not a first name. She's a pro wrestler, do you think that Bret 'The Hit Man' Hart's middle name is 'The Hit Man'? ^_^
