Okay all. Here it is: SF Code Ver 5.0. It was written by Al lo (writer
of the beta of Ver 4.0) and myself. Please make note of any changes from
Ver 3.0 (the last "official" SF Code released) and update your code as
you wish. Any comments should be directed back to Al lo (a...@wincom.net)
or me (ult...@concentric.net).

Also, note that I will host this code at my page. Any one who wishes a
copy can either copy this here or go to my page and get it from there.
Al lo will handle all requests for e-mail, as well as anyone who wants a
copy to host it on their page. Thank you for your time...

SF Code v5.0
by Al Lo (a...@wincom.net) and Ultima (Ult...@concentric.net)

The following is adapted from Quanah S. Harjo's SF Code
v3.0 which was adapted from Tom Cannon's SF2 Code v2.0 which was
adapted from Julien Beasley's SF2 Code v1.0 which is an
adaptation from Robert A. Hayden's Geek code v2.1. Many excepts
are taken directly from previous versions of the SF Code. With
all the new Street games that are out now we felt that we only
needed to add what was missing. The SF Code is a method for a
player to describe what kind of player they are. Just follow the
example which shows how the Code is put together. If no qualifier
exactly matches you just pick the one that most suits you. Also,
some may not describe you. In that case do not use those
modifiers in your own code. Also, pay particular attention to
case-sensitivity, there can be a big difference between a 't' and
a 'T'. Attach this to your signature file for use in e-mailing
and using newsgroups.

Note: We decided that the code would only be used for the main
Street Fighter games. The side games such as the Marvel series
were not included because they don't represent "real" Street
Fighter games.

Note: In order to keep the code from being updated all of the
time no new version of the code may be made until a new Street
Fighter is made. The game must be a traditional Street Fighter
like the Street Fighter series, Alpha series or EX series. No
Pocket Fighter or Marvel type games. All ideas for updates of
this version should be sent to Al Lo (a...@wincom.net) or Ultima
(Ult...@concentric.net). This rule will also hold true for the
ones who create version 6.0 and so on. This is to prevent anyone
and his brother who wants net recognition to make his own
version. We'll be seeing SF Code 500.0 by next week if the rule
wasn't in place. Al experienced this problem with the beta
version release of v4.0 which went to 4.1 the day after with
almost no new changes and a new author.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
-----
**********Example Code**********

Use this as a basis to make you code.

SF Code v5.0
{Characters + Specific Modifiers}
[General Modifiers]

Enclose the characters and modifiers that apply to them only
between {}. Then put general modifiers between [].

*EXAMPLE*
SF Code 5.0
{Sk(SFA2)++ I(II,III)+>++ Cl(SFA2)>+}
[ac- ch cn c+ cc++ 2@+ $m n+:+ o+ p+ t+ r@+(++vs.ARK) s++ sp-- t
tm-:- tr--:-- v+(KAW)]

Notice that the characters Sakura, Ibuki and Chun are enclosed
within {} and the general modifiers are enclosed within [].

Don't worry, the remaining portions of this example shall be
explained as we go along.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
-----
**********The Characters**********

Use this to show who your favorite characters to use are.
A Adon
Ak Akuma (Jap. Gouki) #Ak Shin Gouki
Al Allen Snider

V Vega (Jap. Balrog)
Yg Yang
Yu Yun
Z Zangief #Z OG Zangief (SFA2)

For SF3 characters, your chosen Super Art is denoted by a Roman
Numeral in brackets after the characters name, i.e. Oro using his
second Super Art is denoted Or[II]

*EXAMPLE*
SF Code 5.0
{Sk(SFA2)++ I(II,III)+>++ Cl(SFA2)>+}
[ac- ch cn c+ cc++ 2@+ $m n+:+ o+ p+ t+ r@+(++vs.ARK) s++ sp-- t
tm-:- tr--:-- v+(KAW)]

Notice how the characters are enclosed between {}.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------
**********Specific Character Traits**********

Applying a basic modifier to a character trait describes your
skill in that particular character. Using Sakura as an example.
Sk represents the character (Sakura) and the +,- is the degree.

Sk-- Don't even know Sakura's moves.
Sk- Sakura scrub. Would rather play the CPU than real

competition.
Sk Decent Sakura player... nothing special.
Sk+ My Sakura wins most of the time locally.
Sk++ My Sakura takes John Choi 8/10 times.

*EXAMPLE*
SF Code 5.0
{Sk(SFA2)++ I(II,III)+>++ Cl(SFA2)>+}
[ac- ch cn c+ cc++ 2@+ $m n+:+ o+ p+ t+ r@+(++vs.ARK) s++ sp-- t
tm-:- tr--:-- v+(KAW)]

Notice how Sakura (Sk) has ++ after it showing that the player is
an expert with Sakura.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
-----
**********Special Characters**********
These symbols are used when you would like to describe the way
you do something against another group of characters. For
example if you are ruthless against shotokaners but not so
ruthless against others you would use r+(++vs.ARK)

ARK The Shotokan's (Akuma, Ryu, Ken)
GRA Grapplers (Zangief, Birdie, Sodom, Darun)
HAF Half-assed Shotokan Characters (Dan, Sean, etc.)
KAW Kawaii (cute) characters (Sakura, Chun, Cammy
etc.)
ODD Goofy characters (Vega, Adon, Cammy, Skullo, etc.)
QUI Quick annoying types that like to hit and run

(Yun, Vega, etc.)
SCR Scrub. Read alt.games.sf2 if you don't know what
this is.

*EXAMPLE*
SF Code 5.0
{Sk(SFA2)++ I(II,III)+>++ Cl(SFA2)>+}
[ac- ch cn c+ cc++ 2@+ $m n+:+ o+ p+ t+ r@+(++vs.ARK) s++ sp-- t
tm-:- tr--:-- v+(KAW)]

Notice v+(KAW) means that a variety of characters are used, but
mainly kawaii characters.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------
**********Version Symbols**********
Used when a character just isn't enough or when you want to
describe a particular genre in general.

SF1 Street Fighter (Fighting Street)
SF2 Street Fighter 2: World Warrior
SFCE Street Fighter 2 Champions Edition
SF2HF Street Fighter 2 Hyper Fighting
SSF2 Super Street Fighter 2
SSF2T Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo
SFA Street Fighter Alpha
SFA2 Street Fighter Alpha 2
SFZ2A Street Fighter Zero 2 Alpha
SFEX Street Fighter EX
SFEX+ Street Fighter EX Plus
SFEX+A Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha
SF3 Street Fighter 3
SF32I Street Fighter 3: Second Impact

*EXAMPLE*
SF Code 5.0
{Sk(SFA2)++ I(II,III)+>++ Cl(SFA2)>+}
[ac- ch cn c+ cc++ 2@+ $m n+:+ o+ p+ t+ r@+(++vs.ARK) s++ sp-- t
tm-:- tr--:-- v+(KAW)]

Notice Sk(SFA2)++ meaning that the player has an expert Sakura
but only in SFA2.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
-----
**********General Modifiers**********
Usually these are put between [] to describe your general game.
However, these can be applied to specific characters by applying
between {} in your code. AS stated above, use any that apply to
you (or closest to you), but it is not recommended that you use
all.

*****Alpha Counters*****
ac-- I stay aggressive. Get that turtle crap outta my
face.
ac- I use them to reverse SCs and CCs, but that's the
only time I use them.
ac I use them once in a while, because they look
nice.
ac+ I use ACs as a big part of my gameplan. Charge
up, sit back and wait.
ac++ I am the king of turtles. I use all super energy

for ACs.
ac++@ I use ACs a lot, but mainly for offense rather
than defense.
!ac+ I'll use Acs, but whine when I get hit with one.

*****Chain Combos*****
ch-- I make it a point not to play games with ludicrous
chains.
ch- I play these games like SFA, but don't look to use
them a lot.
ch I use them sometime. What's the big deal?
ch+ I stick out jabs and shorts all the time hoping to
start a chain.
ch++ My whole gameplan is chaining into supers.
ch+++ All I can do is chain. My real skill lies in MK3
where all I do is dial away!

*****Cheapness*****
cn-- I live by the code of Bushido. I am the
definition of honorable.
cn- I don't mind throws once in a while but repeated
ticks, infinites and glitches make me want to beat
up those who use them on me.
cn I like everything except infinites and glitches.
cn+ I use the occasional infinite just to show that I
can do them.
cn++ I use glitches and infinites whenever I can and
only use characters that can do them!
cn+++ My name is "I". There is no such thing as cheap.
If you sneeze while playing me and I kill you
while you're distracted, that's your problem, not
mine.

*****Combos*****
c-- I can't do combos. I have no timing. I base my
game on the art of spazzing.
c- I get 2-in-1's off luck when I am trying to do
something else.
c I do them once in a while when my opponent is open
for a hit.
c+ I can do most combos and use them regularly as
part of my arsenal.
c++ My name TZW. I make tapes of my crazy combos.

*****Custom Combos*****
cc-- They RUINED THE GAME! I don't use them, never
will.
cc- They're cheesy, but I'll pop off a spazzy one on
occasion.
cc I use them for defense, but that's about it.
cc+ I use them a lot, both for offense and defense.
What's the big deal?
cc++ My name is Alex Valle. You will be hovering above
the floor for half the match JUST for standing up.
!cc+ I use CCs, but I whine when I'm hit with one.

*****Giving 2nd Rounds*****
2-- Why should I give 2nd? The line's long enough as
it is!
2- Will seldom give 2nd's, but only if you ask (and
maybe pay me).
2 Doesn't really try during the 2nd round. If you
earn it, you can have it.
2+ Will give seconds, but makes it look like you've
earned it.
2++ Help scrubs by critiquing their game during the
2nd Round and offering helpful pointers.

*****Grapplers*****

g-- Forget it. After 6 years and 100K, I've given up
on trying to get an SPD.
g- I spin the joystick around like crazy and mash on
the buttons, shaking the machine and jumping up
and down. It works more often than you think!
g I'm a fairly average grappler. I can SPD most of
the time, I guess.
g+ Can SPD 100% of the time. I've spent quite a bit
of time with grapplers, and I can crush you like
an empty tin can if you blink.
g++ Can tick into a FAB. Consistently.

*****Money*****
m-- I still have tokens left over from when I last
played ...in CE.
m- I spend less than a dollar a week on Street
Fighter.
m I'm restrained enough to put in one quarter, play
one game, and leave afterwards.
m+ I'll easily spend over $5 in one sitting. Once
I've found good competition, the money just keeps
on flowin'!
m++ I spend over $50 a week on Street Fighter.
!m I win enough money/tokens from tournaments to
finance my playing (so it cost virtually nothing).
$m I play so much, I figured it would be more
efficient to buy an SF machine.

*****Net (alt.games.sf2)*****
n--:-- I'm from AOL and don't understand the stigma
against me : I'm a total lurker, never posted.
n-:- I rarely read agsf2 : I post occasionally, but
don't say a whole lot.
n: I read agsf2 when I'm bored : I've posted a few
articles.
n+:+ I read most articles on agsf2 : I post quite a bit
and the veterans recognize me.
n++:++ I have read every article on agsf2 : I'm known as
a net personality on agsf2.
n+++:+++ I was here for the Ming/Su wars, the discovery of
combos, and before the rgva->agsf2 split : I've
met several agsf2 net personalities.

*****Obsession*****
o-- SF2 fiction? You guys need to get a life!
o- I really don't have time to make SF2 a priority.
o I play occasionally, but that's about it.
o+ I play every day. I read SF2 fiction, and tell SF2
jokes. My friends think I'm weird.
o++ SF2 is my life. I stay up at night thinking of
combos and strategies. My future wife will look
like Chun or Sakura.
!o+ I don't really care about the game, but I still
want to marry Chun Li.

*****Old School*****
os-- Total newbie to SF in general. I've only played
the current version of SF available. Can I help
it that I was born in the 80s or that I've been
living under a rock for the past 6 years..?
os- Haven't been around for very long. I'm familiar
with the current version of SF and the last one,
but that's it.
os Been around for a while. SFA2 was tops. Think that
the new SFs and the VS games are okay, but know
they could have been better.
os+ Been around since SF2 Classic, and think that the
VS games aren't good for anything other than
drawing scrubs away from SF. SSF2T was the best
SF, period.
os++ I"ve played since SF1. The current SF versions are
CRAP! Hyper Fighting was the pinnicle of SF,
and everything else afterwards has been an insult
to us old-schoolers!

*****Parrying*****
p-- The slowest of moves slip past my parry. I think
the motion is too hard!
p- I occasionally parry on accident, but usually
just spaz on the stick, and still get smacked.
p I can parry most of the time, but it's not a huge
part of my game plan.
p+ Parrying into moves is my specialty, you poke
against me, you die!
p++ Nothing touches me! I can parry
all of Ibuki's knives, Necro's magnetic storm,
and every hit of the Shinryuken! I am a GOD!
!p I make it a point not to parry. Option select has
ruined the game.
!p+ I use parries, but whine when one of my moves is
parried.

*****Ruthlessness*****
r-- I don't care whether I win or lose. The fun is in
playing the game! I make it a point not to stay on
the machine for more than 2 turns.
r- I'm a nice guy. I'll give second rounds, and I'll
play goofy characters even against good players
just for the fun of it.
r I kid around sometimes.
r+ I use any method within the game to win. I'll
pretend to be weaker against weaker players to
'milk' them for the most amount of money.
r++ I crush newbies like the girly men they are! I
like to use big combos and ticks when they're
trying to figure out blocking! If I see a little
kid I beat him just to see him lose!

*****Sheng Long (be honest!)*****
s-- Have played Sheng Long. Think that there's a
hidden character called "Ariel Rave" in XvsSF.
s- Sheng Long is in there, it's just no one's found
him yet. EGM printed it, so it MUST be true
(d00d)! Have been called a Sheng Lemming by
Ferral.
s Fell for the EGM trick, but realize there's no
Sheng Long.
s+ Have doubted the existance of Sheng Long all the
time, with some lingering doubts.
s++ Have never believed in the existance of "Sheng
Long" as a hidden character (and there never will
be DAMMIT!).
+s+ I am a member of the Church of Sheng Long, and
know that while Sheng isn't playable, that he is a
part of us all, he is part of the aether that
surrounds and animates us, he is all knowing. May
the Sheng be with you!

*****Spazzing*****
sp-- I never spaz. When I am playing I neither sweat
nor begin to tire. The machine never moves when I
am playing.
sp- I jam on the buttons sometimes, to escape grabs
and dizzies.
sp I don't try to spaz but it happens sometimes with
characters such as Chun and her lightning kick.
sp+ I thought that special moves came out by just
spinning the controller and pressing all of the
buttons really fast!
sp++ I am a Wolverine pro. I beat people even though
I don't know any moves. I can add on tons of
extra hits on Super Combos!

*****Style*****
st-- I use only the basics and am completely devoid of
style. You'll probably die of boredom if you fight
me too often.
st- I use mainly the basics, but occasionally I'll do
something flashy if the opportunity aries.
st I try to balance between the basics and style.
st+ I try to be stylish in most fights, and will only
stick to the basics if I'm losing.
st++ Style takes precedence over everything. If I don't
finish you with a stylish move or combo, I forfeit
the match.

*****Taunting*****
ta-- I'm too busy worrying about winning to taunt.
ta- I taunt very seldomly, and only if fighting a
scrub.
ta I taunt every now and then, though I still hold
off on taunting against better players.
ta+ I taunt a great deal, and am not afraid to taunt
even against better players.
ta++ I taunt every ten seconds... against John Choi..

*****Throwing*****
t-- I'll slam your face on the machine if you throw
me. The last Zangief player I fought now is now
missing a testicle.
t- I'll sac throw, or walk under throw, but that's
it. Walk up throws and/or ticks are cheap!
t I'll throw you if you're turtling, but I don't go
out of my way to throw.
t+ I have no compulsions about using repeated ticks.
They win me the game, don't they?
t++ My name is Rasheed Rankins, or Lord Baal. My goal
in life is to throw you. I'll throw instead of
combo you when you are dizzy, just to make a
point.

*****Tournaments*****
tm--:-- Never been to a tournament : I'm always out in 2.
tm-:- Been to a few tournaments : I sometimes place in
the top half.
tm: I go to tournaments about once a month : I always
place in the top half.
tm+:+ I live in Sunnyvale / go to weekly tournaments :
Place in the top four.
tm++:++ I go to every tournament I can, travelling huge
distances if necessary. I always win tournaments,
rarely taking second.
$tm I'll only compete in a tournament if money is
involved.
^tm I organize tournaments.

*****Trash Talking*****
th-- I am the epitome of the strong silent type. When I
play you can hear the metallic echo of the springs
when the buttons are pressed.
th- On occasion I'll make a short quip or two either
during or after a match.
th If you talk trash, I will match and raise you.
th+ Trash-talking is one of my best offensive weapons
as it breaks my opponent's concentration.
th++ I make it a point to get personal in every match,
and if you lose against me, I'll make sure your
family, your friends and your next of kin learn of
your humiliating defeat at my hands!

*****Turtling*****
tr--:-- I'd rather die than turtle : Fighting turtles
makes me ill.
tr-:- In the worst case scenario, I will turtle :
Fighting turtles bores me to tears.
tr: I'll turtle on occasion, but it's not my main
tactic : Turtles are people too, I guess.
tr+:+ I turtle quite a bit, and mix in agression when
necessary : I get a sick sense of pleasure from
laying turtles on their back.
tr++:++ I am the turtle! I will sit like a rock tossing
Sonic Booms and Flash Kicks until you die from
boredom. I get time wins regularly : I have
tuned my game for the express purpose of hunting
and killing turtles! Just try and block! Mua ha ha
ha ha ha ha...!

*****Variety*****
v-- I've only tried one character since SF2 first
came out and have never felt the desire for
anything more.
v- I play one character. I'm pretty much screwed if I
can't beat my opponent with him or her.
v I have a main character and a backup character if
I lose.
v+ I play 4 or 5 characters regularly.
v++ I play every single character.
v? I'm still deciding who to play.
v+(***) I play only (***) characters, where *** represents
one of the main types of characters described in
the Special Characters section above (ex. v+(ARK).

-----------------------------------------------------------------
-----
**********Advanced Modifiers**********

You can apply advanced modifiers to any trait in order to more
fully qualify how you feel about that trait. The advance
modifiers are:

! Depending on context, is used to either specify
apathy about a particular trait or an exclusion
from an already existing variable. For example,
I've never played Street Fighter Zero 2 Alpha
would be !SFZ2A. If you have a good Chun Li, but
stopped playing her because of SFA2 you would use
Cl+(!SFA2).

@ For variable. Said trait is not very rigid. May
change with time or with individual interaction.
For example, people who like to give 2nd rounds,
but only to scrubs might list themselves as
2--(+...@vs.SCR).

( ) For explicit indicating ranges or exceptions. If
you play Ken only in Hyper Fighting, use K(SF2HF).
Someone who thinks throwing is ultra-cheap except
when using Zan, Birdie or Sodom would list
t--(++GRA) since they're all grapplers. If you're
mostly a nice guy, but sometimes like to really
CRUSH your opponent if he is a scrub, use
r-(++vs.SCR).

> For 'wannabe' ratings. Indicates that while you
are at one rating, you are striving to reach
another. If you're just picking up Rolento but
plan to dominate the world, you would use Rl->++.

vs. Used to apply a modifier to when you're playing
against another character. If my Birdie is really
bad, but I've optimized him to kill Shotokaners, I
would use B-(++vs.ARK). If I only play Chun Li to
take out Zangief, I would list !Cl(+vs.Z).

-----------------------------------------------------------------
----

This concludes SF Code 5.0. We shall now give use the above to
describe this following example code:

Al Lo
SF Code 5.0
{Sk(SFA2)++ I(II,III)+>++ Cl(SFA2)>+}
[ac- ch cn c+ cc++ 2@+ $m n+:+ o+ p+ t+ r@+(++vs.ARK) s++ sp-- t
tm-:- tr--:-- v+(KAW)]

>From this sample, it can hence be determined that Al Lo has the
following traits:

- Expert Sakura in SFA2.
- Good Ibuki with II and III supers (Yoroi Doushi and Hashin

Sho). Wants to improve to expert level.
- Good Chun Li in SFA2. Wants to improve to very good level.
- Only uses Aplha Counters to reverse Custom Combos and Super
Combos.
- Uses chains sometimes.
- Will use everything to win except infinites and glitches.
- Can do most combos and reguraly uses them
- Uses CCS like Alex Valle.
- Gives 2nd rounds if you earn them; sometimes gives them away

and make you look like you earn them.
- Willing to spend more than $5 if competition is good.
- Makes considerable use of parries.
- Will use repeated ticks and has no problems with it.
- Kids around sometimes, though occasionally will use any means

to win. However, will crush Ryu/Ken/Akuma types without mercy.
- Never believed in the existence of Sheng Long.
- Never spazzes.
- Been to a few tournaments.
- Dislikes turtling intensely.
- Plays all kawaii characters.

Good work, m'man. It's a hell of a lot more organized than I could
have made it (I play Dan: Organization isn't formost on my mind ^_^)

One thing though: Your example is messed up. After the Ibuki in
Al Lo's code, he has the Super Arts denoted by ()s instead of []s.
Just thought I'd point that out to kill a little confusion.

(BTW: What the hell is Miko Hokuto? You mean I'm *cringe* missing
something in SFEX? GAH!)

That was mostly Al lo's doing, BTW.

Damn. You're right. I never noticed that (but the again, I didn't write
the example; you give a few, you take a few... :P ). I'll be sure to
change that.

Miko (Priestess) Hokuto is in SFEX+A. Got the code from the latest
Gamefan. It goes something like this:

Pick Evil Hokuto with any P or K. Then hold down the two P or two K you
DIDN'T select her with (so if you chose her with Jab, hold down Strong
and Fierce) along with L2 and Start. Continue to hold while the game
loads, and Evil Hokuto should change into Priestess Hokuto.

She's armed with a priestess' wand - look's like Mizuki's own. She has
all of Evil Hokuto's moves though, so essentially she's just a
costume-swap.

Just keep it going! It's the first decent version I've seen in a while,
and it should be all-encompasing. Well...until the NEXT real SF game
comes out.

I prolly just did it wrong over and over...I'm dense like that sometimes.

Hrm...well...I changed it again, anyways. Got it down to six lines now,
I think. Just hope there's no 80 column overflow, or wierd crap like that.

I haven't been able to get that code to work either. I've got light
punch mapped to L2, you think that might be a problem?
