Another solution would be to compile all the arguments into a FAQ (isn't
it about time this newsgroup had one?) and post it occasionally or else
direct them to it. Not all of these players are necessarily trolls. They
may just be getting to the argument late. Back in 1997 when I first came
to this NG I had had very little experience with chains combos (in
general - we got no SF games that had them by me), and quickly learned
that they were detested, but I didn't know why and no one told me why
until I asked.
There's nothing wrong with asking "What's wrong with X
feature/game/tactic/whatever", but it IS tiresome to repeat arguments.
That's why I say we create a FAQ (hell, I've got spring break coming up,
I'd do it). It's also superior to telling people "go search through
dejanews" which, while effective, I can understand some people being
reluctant to do (I don't like Dejanews, really). With a FAQ, these
people will have no excuse to bother us with these type of questions
after they are directed to it.
