Hey guys, NFL Blitz had the N64 mem cart support...
So you can rest assured the US MvC2 will have it.

Apparently NFL Blitz was the reason they won't...

MVC2 will not support the VMU due to the fact that arcade operators do
not want it (either because of lack of player interest in the VMU or
because the price of the cabinet would be higher). In any case,
American gamers have not adopted the VMU as whole-heartedly as Japanese
gamers and given the fact that only the best arcades would even carry
the game I think would leave a lot of players out in the cold in terms
of having a chance to get the secret characters.

I know I will probably catch hell for saying this but I am glad that
Capcom has decided to change this for the U.S. release. I am one of the
unfortunate ones who does not live near a "good" arcade and it would be
very dissappointing to me if I did not have a chance to get some of
these characters. I think what Capcom may do is a typical delayed
release for the Dreamcast after the arcade and just go with the "meet
the conditions" approach to getting the new characters (or time release
them, codes, etc...).

Anyway, I know a lot of fans will not be happy about the news that the
VMU option has been scrapped here but maybe once the internet play
feature has been firmly established things could change. I'm just
excited enough to get the game!

Also, if anyone's interested, check out the recent report about this
situation at Gamespot.

I'm honestly glad that the US VMU support has been dropped. Whether it
will now be time-released, or codes, EVERYBODY will be able to play as
the Dreamcast characters, not only those who have a Japanses Dreamcast
(I thought this was pretty stupid to begin with).

NFL Blitz had a slot where you could insert the N64 memory card with
plays you made at home and use it in the arcades. This is similar to
what Capcom is doing with the DC's VMU.

Believe me, I feel your pain. Capcom games are scarce around here (I didn't
get to play Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Alpha 2 and 3, Darkstalkers 3, or
Street Fighter EX until they were released for home systems, and I didn't get
to play Marvel vs. SF until a few months after MvC was released, and I still
haven't gotten to play the second or third versions of SF3).

Even when one of the arcades does get a Capcom game, it seems like everybody's
flocking to a Tekken machine to button mash away, anyway, so I usually have to
play the computer. Some people will play the vs. games, but most of them are
scrubs who pick easy mode and button mash away like they're playing Tekken
(the most popular strategy in town seems to be jam on all the buttons while
tapping the joystick forward). Even when they pick normal mode, it's Ryu or
Megaman players whose strategy is throw fireballs until you can do a beam
super. Their SF3 strategy isn't much different, assuming somebody actually
plays me (which is rare). It's frustrating because I know I'd be a much
better player if the arcades actually got the games and I had some decent
competition.
