I don't that Capcom has Story as an issue for this game. However, I'd go
with a similar reason the Vs games did, but without the added thing of how
everyone's powers were increased. They could just rip the story straight
from CvS1... Mak and Morrigan was that game too...

well the story from the first CvS was Geese howard's company and ken's dad
company holds a martial arts tournament to settle the score (from the game
manual : In AD 2000 a special martial arts even is planned through a
collaboration of the two most powerful world organizations: Robert Financial
Clique (Geese? company) and Masters foundation (Ken's dad company) It is hoped
that the gala event will ease politcal conflicts between the two powers
many renowned martial artist have registered for the tournament. around the
world, people are intensely focused on upcoming exhibitions. the long awaited
opening ceremony is a huge success. No one notices the signs of imminent
collapse)

Think of it as a "Dream Match." Like KOF 98...

Actually, the two sponsors of the "Millenium Fight 2000" event are the Garcia Zaibatsu* (the financial organization headed by Albert Garcia, father of Robert Garcia (from SNK's Ryuuko no Ken [aka, Art of Fighting] series)) and the Masters Zaidan** (the financial organization headed by the father of Ken Masters (from CAPCOM's Street Fighter series).

* Zaibatsu = financial clique, giant family trust
** Zaidan = foundation, financial group, consortium, syndicate, endowment

Because of the involvement of the Garcia Zaibatsu, I was quite disappointed that CAPCOM included Ken in the first CvsS but failed to include Robert.

By the way, the name of Geese Howard's financial organization is "The Howard Connection" (if I remember correctly).

Is robert gonna be a secret character in CvS2? I hope so.

Does anyone have any really good combos for Ryo? That dude rules but i can't
seem to pull off too many combos (at least longer than 3 hits) before knocking
them out (he hits too much like Ryu....many one hit knock downs and can dizzy
opponents really well).

it'd be awesome to have Robert, Ryo, and Yuri in one team.
iT NeVEr eNdS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fighting games don't need stories. Play an RPG or something.

Who cares about storyline? This is a fighter, not an RPG.

That would be going too far, you have to work up to reading a book. :)

hehe, yeah, good point. I don't think I've read any books for about ten
years now... aside from game manuals of course! ^_^

Of course your right.. fighting games don't need stories.. and an RPG is
mostly story... (plus some kewl action if your lucky)
but even though a figthing game makes a story difficult (in that there are
so many variations on who the game is completed with and which characters
they come across, etc...)
I personally feel I'd rather an attempt at a story...
I was kinda disappointed when they weeded out stories through most of the vs
series some characters don't even have an ending an if you look at MvC2 ..
what more needs to be said?...

I believe it would make me feel much better to at least have something
individual to the character that I choose and nice to look at as a reward
for completing the game... simple as that...
storyline imho is well worth it...

I agree. I like to see the game acknowledge *my* choice of characters,
not just give me a generic ending with the most popular characters given
the spotlight. (Though MvC2 has a bit more than that - CvS has a bit
*less* than that, giving the spotlight to Joe and Dan, who aren't even
in the game. They deserve it, of course, but still....)

Hey, there's a question.... if you win CvS Pro with Dan and/or Joe, are
they still the 'winning team' in the ending? :)
