Hands up who thinks Capcom will get totally slated for releasing direct
ports of RE2 and RE3 on the GameCube if the graphics are going to be the
same as the Dreamcast ports of the original PSX?

Even at 19.99 or whatever they're charging it would have to be a sodding rip
off if the graphics are the same.
Perhaps 4.99 would stop most people complaining, but the snag is Nintendo
GC-Rom blanks cost about £10 ($15) each, so they would lose money if they
sold them any lower than $19.99.

Ahhh well.... I suppose there's going to be a LOT of moaning when they get
released.

The RE2 and RE3 ports were made for those who do NOT own
the past RE2 and RE3 versions and for those who haven't followed
the Resident Evil storyline during it's Playstation days.

Indeed!!!! What is capcom trying to pull here? It was already worse when
they didn't do any graphical updates, but for a price of $20 that at least
seemed fair. This is nothing more than milking gamecube owners out of their
money for while they do nothing in return (now they really have to have put
something in there in the sence of new files or new surprices or something
at least!

It's twenty bucks a pop. Capcom's website often lists incorrect prices
(although RE 2, RE 3, and CV for $49.9X might be a better package, no?).

I don't see what all the whining is about. Mikami-san has said that he's
porting the games to the GC only so that people who haven't played the
games before get a chance to do so before RE 4. Capcom doesn't expect
previous owners to buy the games again.

On another note, I'd rather pay $49.9X for any one of RE 2, TLoZelda II,
Super Mario Bros. 3, etc. than the crap that's flooding the market now.
Is value based on the intrinsic quality of the title, or merely its
"newness"?

Oh I wasn't whining about the fact that their straight ports (I'm getting
professionel help now and the doctor says that I my arms will be untied when
I stop biting people). I was whining about the rumour that capcom was going
to let you pay 40 bucks a game for straight ports witch they didn't deserve
for straight ports.

Well I can tell you it's not a mistake. As soon as I saw it I e-mailed the
Capcom Customer Services department to question if it was, and got this form
mail reply.

"Hello,

Thank you for contacting Capcom. As of now, the price for these games are
$39.95. We will be sure to let you and all our avid fans out there know of
any new developments as they arise. You should also continue to monitor our
web site for the latest information regarding Promotions, New Game Releases,

and Industry News."

On a similar note - Nintendo might not allow such low quality of graphics to
appear on the GameCube.
I am doing some work in the Games Industry at the moment, and can safely say
that all games for Ninty, Sony or MS have to go through rigorous QA and
Quality Control - so I don't know how Capcom plan on getting round the
problem of the game looking absolute pants on the GameCube.
