Pausing the game doesn't stop the game timer.
I played LeonA through last night with as little faffing around as
possible, and thought I'd done *really* well. After completing the
game, I eagerly waited for the time, only to get 2h 28m - pretty
poor really, for a speed run.
What killed the time, I'm sure, is that I paused the game for half
an hour to watch a TV programme! Don't worry, I realise that the
above isn't evidence in itself, so this morning I loaded my final
save position (just before the final monster), paused for about five
minutes, then killed him. Lo and behold, 2h 32m 58s.
This strikes me as a pretty major bug... I'll investigate whether
there's anything that *does* pause the game, like going into the
inventory, viewing the map, or maybe reading a document. Has anyone
already done this?

Ther is NOTHING which actually kills the timer. The menu (options and
items) don't stop the timer, neither does viewing the map or reading a
document ...

And on the 8th day god created himself a monkey and started to spank it.

Absolutely. I definitely count this as a bug. Hopefully someone in Capcom
is reading this group and will make changes to future games...
It's even nastier when trying to get the Gatling gun (no saves) - you've
got to be able to guarantee a few hours with no interruptions - if
someone calls you five minutes before the end, you're in trouble!
But it has nothing to do with skill! It means those of us with a life
(and a job!) find it much harder...
(Note to Gareth: this is *not* to say you don't have a life! :)
That seems a bit naff to me. Surely the whole point of being able to
pause a game is that it stops completely so you can go off and do
something else (answer the phone, have dinner, whatever) without it
affecting anything.

I know. I did ClaireB on Thursday in 2:06... I reckon I could have beaten
the 2 hour mark if I hadn't had two phone calls... (And I could have
shaved off another 2 minutes or so if I hadn't been rubbish coming up
from the basement)
