Resident Evil Sequel Greenlit
It's official - a second Resident Evil flick is on the way.

March 07, 2002 - The Resident Evil movie doesn't arrive in theaters until
next Friday (March 15th), but the film's sequel has already been greenlit.
The principle cast of the film had leaked details of the planned sequel
during recent interviews, but word was that it wouldn't get the go-ahead
until the first film's box office numbers were in. But today, Constantin
Film and Sony's Screen Gems threw caution to the wind and inked a deal for a
sequel based on presales and prerelease buzz alone.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, writer-director-producer Paul W.S.
Anderson will be back for the sequel in at least the writing and producing
capacity. He'll probably direct the picture too, but that's not been
confirmed. The sequel has been tentatively dubbed Resident Evil: Nemesis.

THR even dished some details on the plot of the film, but beware of
spoilers. They report, as we know, that the film is set in an underground
research facility called the Hive, hidden miles beneath the Midwestern town
of Raccoon City. And here's where the scoop comes in: The film reportedly
ends above ground with the remnants of a metropolis ravaged by destruction -
that's where the sequel picks up.

And to answer your most frequently asked question: Yes, the second movie's
plot will delve into territory that's at least somewhat familiar to Resident
Evil gamers. The sequel will combine characters from the first film with
characters from the video game.

Stay tuned to IGN FilmForce for more Resident Evil coverage, including an
interview with the film's stars, Milla Jovovich and Michelle Rodriguez.

I agree totally, hopefully anderson won't mess up the story. Then again with RE
3 it could be better and or worse.

I also heard at E! Online that one of the main characters in the first
movie will become the "Nemesis" in the sequel. More bad news: So far the
genre of the movie has been labled "sci-fi" not "horror", so thats a
let-down. Maybe in the sequel Anderson will step up the horror.

MABIUS REVEALS RESIDENT EVIL 2 SPOILERS -@ 03:11 PST
"Resident Evil" co-star Eric Mabius tells Sci Fi Wire he may appear in
the sequel to "Resident Evil," which is a prequel to the first game.
Mabius says, "This [film] brings us up to above ground in Raccoon
City. I'm going to be Nemesis in the sequel. I'll be putting on 30 or
40 pounds and three or four hours a day in prosthetics. This guy has
tentacles and all this crazy stuff going on."
In the first film, Mabius plays Matt, a character who did not appear
in any game. Matt gets infected with the T virus, and the evil
scientists take him away, saying, "We want him in the Nemesis
program." To play his mutated form in the sequel, Mabius said that
he will study the game in which Nemesis appears.

SILENT HILL MOVIE_____________________________________
BACK TO BASICS!!!!!
Contributed by VOORHEES on 2002-03-03 02:24:06
According to a source at Fangoria magazine and New Line Cinema a 3
picture deal has been inked with the new start up company Dark Aura
Entertainment to write & produce
three new horror films.
Apparently the new company has impressed the big wigs up at New Line
with there concepts and perception of what a horror movie should be.
"Basically they came in with their presentation and blew us away with
this whole idea of bringing horror movies back to the point where they
actually scare people or leave an uneasy feeling in the viewer." says
New Line's new project manager William Rion. "The whole thing just
made sense, we have seen far to many films that dont really try and be
a horror film they hack up a couple of people and find a cheesy
predictable resolution." "These guys are going to be making films in
the vain of films such as The Shining and Candyman.
Films that actually have some sort of purpose for being made and
watched." The three man team of Dark Aura Studios is ready to accept
the challenge of leading the horror revolution back to its once
glorified past. "We dont want to make movies where the people are in
the audience saying to themselves " how stupid are these people ?? or
why is the person on screen going to fall down at such an inopportune
time." says one third of the team Jason Sheppard. " When people see
our movies i dont want to give them a reason to question anything in
the film". " We want them to be reasonable and believeable to an
extent of course it is still horror". The first picture is already in
preproduction as far as scripting and casting is concerned parts in
the film are written with certain actors in mind. " You always have a
visual in mind of what the characters are supposed to be like". says
Randall Sheppard
who is Jason's father. "the casting is as important as anything
everyone knows this the actors set the tone just as much as the plot.
you dont want Adam Sandler to headline a horror movie". The storyline
is not fully known but it is apparently set in an old house in a
remote town in the northeast. sounds lame yes but if you were to see
the promo trailer that the group had produced you would get excited
about this film in a heartbeat. Its only about a minute long but it is
chilling to say the least.
It shows a dimly lit hallway from a worms eyeview and you hear
screaming and struggling and suddenly a body slams down on the floor
right in front of the camera you see feet quickly run past the camera
while the victims eyes and bloody face stare at you. you see the feet
run back across the screen. then a gloved hand pulls the body out of
the shot . a scream is heard in the back ground yelling no no !!!.
then shockingly a ventriloquist type puppet grabs a knife left behind
and stares straight at the screen its eyes blink and he gives a sneer
and rapidly moves off screen and suddenly blackness. thats it it may
be misconstrued as another living puppet film. it was clearly stated
that the puppet is just one of the many things in this film placed to
"disturb" viewers and not the main focus of the film. The third person
on the team Manuel Quinones says "horror is not gore it has its place
in the films but that dosent necessarily scare you. Ask around and
youll see how many people
would not like to be in a room at night with a puppet that looks like
that. not many!!!!".
The group has also began discussions on
producing a big screen version of the popular Konami game Silent Hill.
The first film is due in october of 2003 and they are reportedly
pursuing Johnny Depp(From hell) and newcomer Chyler Leigh(Not Another
Teen Movie) to star along side already signed on Jason Statham(snatch)
for Silent Hill.William Rion thinks "The project has all the promise
in the world and hopefully it will succeed we have faith that they
will churn out a classic horror film that the studio can be proud of."

Below is an email that applies to Silent Hill as well.______________
Hello,

Upon reading your post at one of the forums that I rummaged to seek, I
discovered your writing about how you intend to be working with New
Line Cinema and how you revision your ideas basically upon what the
fans desire or want to see (if I am correct). Needless to say, you
also have written about how you (Dark Aura Entertainment) wish to
bring back the unique style of what a horror movie is basically made
of.

I am somewhat surprised/happy with your new choice -- selection for a
movie -- Silent Hill as being a top priority as one of your examples
through the forum. My comments/suggestions are strictly just for the
Dark Aura Entertainment group to give a little thought about this
project. As I should say without further adieu, I am a real, big fan
of the new revolution of survival horror, including SILENT HILL
developed from Konami. I find it one of the most depth, frightening
series made thus far.

Do not be alarmed because of 'Suggestions' on the subject title; if
you do not take suggestions about further projects, please just take
the time to read my e-mail because I have taken my time to express my
thoughts for you and the Dark Aura Entertainment:

You may even be quite skeptical about some points that I make, due to
the fact that they are personally decided for my future; although, I
believe that it would be a success for the years ahead of me. I have
come to a nearing conclusion about beginning a SILENT HILL series,
basically writing. Though, that's irrelevant to this e-mail and I just
suggested to tell you that, because I am seriously attempting to point
out some many things for this upcoming project.

This may be a bit early for questioning, perhaps not, but the movie
you are making from SILENT HILL, is it based on the actual games in
the series? Personally, I would like to see a movie from SILENT HILL 1
or 2, but I think that you should also go with the storyline with a
SILENT HILL movie that may be oblivious to any fan and not show much
of the new storyline until release. That is, to bring an actual
amazement to the ones who plan to take a seat in front of the big
screen in the future to see the new installment of a movie SILENT
HILL.
Let it be known, that SILENT HILL is one of the greatest survival
horror games that has ever been made to this day, and naturally has
brought forth one of the most interesting storylines known to any
video game (not one game has stood out to be frightening such as this
one). I also want this to be known: Hollywood can rearrange a lot of
plots for movies and what not. Specifically, video game movies in this
case, if it is the will of the entertainment team to bring out an
enriched, terror movie, then let it be. According to video game
movies, not a single one to my knowledge has been very successful in
the eyes of the critics and popular liking of the people. What my
implication is, honestly, is to tell you and whomever is working on
this project that SILENT HILL is very well, a serious project, indeed.
Secondly, according to your statements, your writing proves that you
want to bring back what horror is made of (what I previously quoted),
and horror movies deserve to be serious in every, little detail.
Basically, what I am saying is, to get the attention of the watchers
and literally scare everyone in your work. If this proves to be
correct, please make sure your post is telling the truth, and bring
this horror to SILENT HILL the movie.
Thirdly, video game movies (sometimes) need to be keen on the plot
that you plan to develop. If it were that the Dark Aura Entertainment
team was to bring out SILENT HILL 1, please come from the actual point
of the video game. My reason for saying this is because a lot of film
directors develop movies whereas they have never sat down and
literally played through the game and studied it's background of
natural elements to bring such known facts (from the game), to make it
a reality (the main focus on the game and what we all love).
Fourthly, I believe that your choices on actors/actresses are wise for
the production. Also, Tim Burton is a great film maker, and does not
let his fans down. A few suggestions, if you would read, that if you
ever consider someone doing the music for the movie(which obviously,
music is mandatory for the movie), consider Danny Elfmann (my spelling
is somewhat off perhaps). Personally, Elfmann is one of the most
developed musicians I have ever seen/listened to. Previous movies
Elfmann has done – Batman -- let us just say this music is quite
brilliant and astounding that it literally gave the feel for Batman,
has made me believe that Elfmann can bring the feeling of
horror/terror to a movie. He would be a great choice for SILENT HILL
as well. I believe Elfmann has worked with even Tim Burton on the
project of Batman, it would be a great reunion.
One more question. Well, it's rather a rhetorical question. This game
has many endings, which will confuse the minds of those who want the
real ending. Which shall you use? I think Konami should bring the
approval of what ending (considering if you chose one of the SILENT
HILL games) of the movie. Using the happily ever after ending just
won't bring out the terror to the folks even when they leave the
theater. Meaning, personally, I like surprise endings!
Last but not least, keep up the good work. Finally, someone has come
out with the information of a team developing SILENT HILL. And I have
waited very long for the news to burst out to the people.
Sincerely,
Shawn Lebert
(seventeen-year-old fan of SILENT HILL and video games)
I was given a response back a couple hours after my sending of e-mail.
I was quite surprised to get it back pretty early. Here it is:
First off let me offer my thanks to you Shawn for taking the time out
to write with your comments and questions. Just to let you know off
hand it is people like you that believe it or not help this project
come to fruition so it is important that we hear from you. Well lets
see, First off the Silent Hill project is in the very early stages of
talks and development. If we were to take on the project it would be
more than likely our second project. As we are committed to our
original film concept "The Essence" which revolves around an old house
which encases a portion of evil of itself. A collector of items with a
macabre nature purchases the house with the intent of it housing his
collection. Obviously things go wrong. You may or may not have heard
about it but its my duty to spread the word. Now on to Silent
Hill..........
First off in my opinion it is the best game ever. I loved every second
of it except that damn piano puzzle in the school. From the opening
moments I knew that the game would make a great film. Trust me we do
not want to mess this one up !!. We are aware of the negativity
surrounding The Resident Evil film and I for one am dissapointed with
the less than horrific feeling those promo's are giving off.. Silent
Hill is horror at its best and as far as we are concerned it should
stay that way. Now for our concepts for the film. It would definitely
revolve around the first game with elements thrown in but I think it
holds up very well as a film in itself. We are very tempted to do
something major with that school scenario that was my favorite that
and the carnival and the hospital. I would however love to portray the
opening alley scene as close as possible Those are what drew me to the
game and We would love to do them justice. As far as casting that is
up in the air, we want good actors in our films t
Unfortunately I have run out of time at this moment...I ask that upon
reading this that you please respond with any unanswered questions.I
would love to take more time to Respond unfortunately duty calls.
Please feel free to respond to this response and well see what we can
do.
Once again thanks for the support.
