A while back there was some interest expressed in seeing the George Romero
script that was rejected for the Resident Evil movie. I am unable to see
any messages in this group and can not get my service (Roadrunner) to do
anything about it. So if anyone wants the script posted, or e-mailed to
them, drop me an e-mail at tjar...@cfl.rr.com . ^_^'

Perhaps if a couple of fans got together, they could shoot this script?

I dont have a gamecube so i dont know about that. But jesus! I cant believe
they rejected that script! What the hell was wrong with it? THAT is truly
what the Resident Evil movie should have been. Characters we all know.
Better enemies. It could maybe have used a little padding out and maybe a
little extra dialogue regarding Jill and Chris's relationship (like him
asking if the whole relationship was just a cover and was her feelings
towards him just an act), but on the whole it would have been a hell of a
lot better with what we were given.

Even better would it have been if they mixed the two movies up so that you
would have the umbrella team with One and the gang and Alice and the cop guy
with the rejected RE script. You wouldn't know who would survive and you
would also have a reasonable RE movie.

That's just it. It wasn't characters we all know. It was their names with
almost completely different backgrounds. Don't get me wrong it was a good
script, but I still believe it would have pissed fans off more than the
actual movie did. I enjoyed the movie if not for the fact that it really
didn't mess with the original characters or story line much. RE1 (game
story) could have still taken place along side of the movie.
Most of the bitching I have heard and read was basically it was not the RE
story. Well, neither is Romero's script. I'm glad it didn't get made.

Well perhaps your right. But i still think they could have used some
elements from the game that they didnt use. Like the Hunters and/or the
Tyrant.

And one thing that really pisses me off is the scene in the laser grid room.
I think they killed off to many people at once. 1 death would have been
enough. 2 at most. Personally i would have preffered the black guy lasting
longer than he did.

The one thing that confused me about that scene was the one commando with the
spikey black hair...the one who got half his hand chopped off. Did he just go
into shock and die or something? Or did the second laser that was pretty close
to the ground finish him off?

I cant remember exactly but i think the second laser cut him in half. He
tried to dodge but the laser moved with him and finished him off.

No that was the guy who was helping the man who got half his hand cut of.
Then the laser came and he and the leader moved back thru the hallway and he
jumped to try to dodge the laser. We never learn if the laser (being so
close to the floor) indeed finished of the one with half his hand.

It's possible he didn't have anything viewable. That's what happened when
one notable writer was hired to write "Rudy". He holed up in a hotel and
stayed drunk most of the time. Since he wasn't getting the job done, they
turned to the writer of "Hoosiers" to get it done.

Not saying this is what happened - just saying that it is possible McElroy
didn't get more than 20 pages into it. That would qualify as taking too
long to finish it ;)
