Does anyone know how to kill Barry on Resident Evil 1?

I was playing Resident Evil 1 with Jill and I killed Barry by accident. I do
not know how I did it, does any one know how I did this. The Bomb did not go
off and I did not have to face the second Tyrant. Also Wesker took me in to
see Tyrant instead of Barry. He had a key to save Chris and to open the
emergency door. To get out the Tyrant room I had to use the computer to
unlock the doors.

Barry dies if you don't wait for him when he drops the rope through the
hole in the floor (the second time you meet the snake).
