It's been yrs since I used FTP and don't really want to get a program,
a new password, learn how to set it up and then use it. Will this work
in a more conventional way?

I'm going nuts d/l all the RB stuff I can find as there are a few nice
sites still out there, and considering, I've come into the game so
late, this is a good thing, just hope I can get all the accessory
files installed correctly and in the right places. I've only started
RB once before, but have mostly played on Red Ace, which I truly love,
hope RB is as much fun.
Yes, there are some great RB sites still up. There are so many ad on
files it's unreal. It had to be one of the easiest games to make files
for. Most have installers so putting them in the right folders is no
problem. I love the online game but it has gone to hell in the last few
years. Sometimes its fun but most of the time people cheat by running
SpeederXP. If you never heard of it just google "SpeederXP". There are
still lots of servers up but not many people in them anymore. To get
online you need to get the RB3D1078.EXE file and then change the
MPLAYER.INI file to see both meta servers. In the MPLAYER.INI change it
to look like this:
[MetaServers]
Server=TCP:rb2.east.won.net:6001
Server=TCP:rb2.west.won.net:6001
These are the only two meta servers left working, most of the time one
is down but you will still see the game servers running. If you run Win
XP you might have problems with the sound but there are files to fix
that. Its too bad you came in so late, the game used to be a blast and
ran 24 hours a day with lots of people.
