Don't seem to be too many people who post on this list.

I've been playing RB since 1991 and upgraded to RBII last year - but
havn't played that much yet.

RBII seems far more difficult than RBI - especially the rudder control
(keyboard) mechanism.

I don't really like the rocket idea - I think rockets only came in
towards the end of WWII.

upgrade to red baron 3d... it's free if u download it off sierra's web
site.
those are really "rockets" they are more like... um... fireworks, with
some explosives in it... and that's why they are so inaccurate...

and you are right, there aren't many people play red baron anymore... or
are they too lazy to post any messages?

Actually RB2/3D has a webring of about 110 sites , and discussion of it
dominates the Delphi Flight Simulator forum .. very active community ..

An upgrade (free and downloadable) gives you RB3D with free (up to) 64
player MP .. you even get the server software free .. about 200 pilots
fighting as we speak ..about 50 squads active ..

If you just have the first (buggy) release..or even patched to rb2_1.5 the
game has changed alot .. new FMs , 3dfx graphics and the better MP .. lots
of unofficial patches for historical fixes and graphics ...

I have an organized collection of custom planes for MP use that virtually
all players use ..
Over 2200 custom planes

Yup, the LePuer rockets... About the only aircraft fitted to use them that I
recall were the N.11, N.17, and SPAD VII. They went out of favor pretty
quickly. Probably reduced the performance of already marginal aircraft...
That and the exhaust of the rocket might catch your own bird on fire...

Fun at times on arcade level reality to blast away with a cloud of rockets
down a trenchline, or snapshooting at the gang of enemy planes coming
headon... Nice to see one or two crumple up on the merge....<G> I've even
managed one kill online with a rocket...(blind luck and I admit it...)

Guys,
I have said it before and I will say it again. There is an incredibly
active RB community. It is just not on this usenet group.
Many patches improving the graphics, sound, FM and DM have been released.
For example, Beery's, Kess- the Promised Land, Von Toms Campaign manager etc.
RB2 players never utilized this group because we always had Delphi and the
now defunct Sierra board, which has been replaced by the Independent Red Baron
Players Forum.
Please do yourselves a favor and check out the IRBPF at:
http://www.insidetheweb.com/mbs.cgi/mb768539

and the Delphi Flight sim board at:
http://www.delphi.com/flight

As I don't stop by here very often, if anyone has any questions you can
email me at mike...@aol.com

Good Flying. Mike P (LWulffe_Ronin)

PS there is also the Red Baron Webring which now has over 120 sites dedicated
to RB2. Squads, Patches, etc.
