RA2 LAN with xp

Greetings geniuses!

I'm trying to play Red Alert 2 with a network. I am using a two
computers with xp, one is a laptop. I have ethernet cables plugged
into a six year old hub. The computers recognize each other...tcp/ip
works (I can see shared files across the computers) but the nwlink ipx/
spx does not. I have them set up with the same frame type (Ethernet
802.3), and network number (00000002) on each computer. When RA2 is
running I can see the options/network and see that the ipx/spx
settings are what I told them to be on each computer, but the
computers don't see each other in the network lobby. I feel like I'm
so close, and each computer is set up right, but I'm somehow missing
something.
