I am trying to access quake 3 servers through NAT and it says "unknown
executable" on all sites I try to access. Once I put my box on the
outside network it works fine. The firewall doing NAT is Checkpoint
Firewall-1 and my quake box is at patch 116n. If anyone has any ideas
feel free to email me or post here.

Thx, Mark

To operate Quake 2 & Quake 3 Arena behind a firewall, you will need to do
the following:

For the Master Server: Enable UDP Port 8002
If you're running your Quake 3 Server inside the firewall and wish to access
it remotely, you'll probably need to do Port Address Translation (PAT),
mapping your Internet Address/Port 8002 to your Inside Address/Port 8002

For Clients connecting to a Quake 3 Arena Server: Enable UDP Port 27960

Hope this helps! I'm using WinRoute Pro 4.1, but these filters should work
with CheckPoint Firewall.

I think I could rule out the firewall blocking ports because not only
was there no logs of packets being dropped but I opened up the
firewall to all traffic and it still did the same. I'm not sure if
Checkpoint supports PAT. But I have the inside address statically
mapped to an outside address so every port will be translated.

Hey, if you've got the rules set correctly -- allow udp on the proper
ports, the nat the internal server, the try this starting the server with
net_ip [IP Address]

for example: quake3.exe +set dedicated 1 +set net_ip 201.68.168.3 setting
the net ip with the address of the external ip address.
