maybe i havent been around this newsgroup long enough. i hear people talking
about instagib. what is that?

I think it's a mod that when you join an Instagib server, it's one shot, one
kill. Never tried it. I have no desire of myself being exposed as a lame
Quaker...oh no, too late!

It's from UT, which in turn copied it from Goldeneye's "License To Kill"
Mode on the Nintendo 64.

Instagib was made for quake 2 a long time ago. Don't know if this was
before goldeneye though.

nope, just join and play..INSTAGIB ROCKS!...you only have to download the
mod if you want to host an instagib server

Goldeneye... I LOVED that game... I wish there was a PC port...
Played it on a housemate's N64 while I was at Uni...

But only the *name* is from UT... Rail-only is an old favourite from Quake 2
;-)

Rhea, the mod creator of Instagib made it for Quake2 long before Golden Eye or UT had
it. Rhea even helped the mod maker configure UT for instagib.

there is a half life mod based on goldeneye. it's only got a few of the weapons
and not all the models on there. But it's pretty good. I hope they're abl;e to
overcome the huge counterstrike wall and get some more servers since it looks
like it has a lot of promise. Planethalflife has more info

It's a mod. For people with low pings, a steady hand and a mouse with no
fluff on the rollers inside.

low-down. In the wording from the site, "...all items are removed, each
player is given a railgun, each shot is lethal. All normal game modes are
supported..."

...as simple as that. Do a search on www.google.com for "instagib" and there
are 1,377 separate pages (and counting) that deal with it. Clans, score
sheets, reports.

Get this: a local grocery chain (Haggen, for those of you around here -- you
know who you are!) sold off its stock of video games, and they let go a copy
of Half Life for $5.00!!!! Unfortunately, I didn't get there in time to get
it, so this is a sad story after all.

Somewhere along the way I played instagib where I downloaded the mod, and
now it appears in my list of mods, so I can play in single player mode,
which is a good thing, as I have been getting no response from the master
server for the past week or so. It isn't as fun as playing against real
people, but it is better than nothing ("botsturbation"????).
