When I go here and test my ADSL speed at the site below the results or as follows,

-- ** Speed 1267(down)/110(up) kbps **
(At least 25 times faster than a 56k modem)
Finish.

Are you folks getting similar results?

I also go to this site.
http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks/

This is my result.

* Results
* Your public IP address is 64.252.36.108
* Your MTU is set ok
* Quick packet-loss tested ok
* Your RWIN is set ok at 32767
* Conclusion.. HEALTHY SETUP!
* End

My question concerns the RWIN number. It was originally set at around 63325 or close to it.
I ran a patch given to me by tech support which lowered my numbers to 32767. Do you folks
have similar settings?

One last question. Have any of you tried any of the patches or tweaks found here.

Is that "East Coast" or West Coast" ? - I use it all the time and get
different values at different times of day and sometimes different results
within 10 minutes... on RoadRunner Cable, mine generally runs around:
** Speed 1500(down)/200(up) kbps **
but has been as high as:
** Speed 3000(down)/300(up) kbps **
many times it is (more than I like!):
** Speed 400(down)/150(up) kbps **

I love that site. Anyone interested in the hell I go through with SWBell,
look at their reviews. I've experienced almost all of those problems and
then some.

Ah~

YES, twice as fast as a 56k modem!
Crappy a55 work connection. Uploads great though.

West....: 1175223 bps, or 1175 kbps.
Browsers would show : about a 143.4 k/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 109589 bps, or 109 kbps.

East.....server was busy at the time but from earlier test's it's just
slightly higher than the West @144down/109 up.

I get the same with cable 700k to 1.5mdown and 129k up to 380k up mostly depending on the time
of day
On the other hand my Adsl gets 1.824m down and 520k up consistent . Try these others out there
west coast side ( BC Vancouver) and Seattle i think .

that's on a P166 thinkpad with a 16Mbit Token Ring card to the IBM network
in RTP, NC. pussyspeed. I can download netscape at over 400KB/s from this
place so that server isn't a really accurate measure.

West Coast (megapath.net)

Side note: Testing before and after I changed my RWIN value from the Win98SE
default to 17520 using the registry tweak from DSL Reports, showed that my
download speeds were nearly doubled! I did the test a second time to make
sure and it was true. I would recommend trying each of the tweaks and
testing your connection after to find the one most suited to you. It would
seem to make a world of difference.
