How can I play Quake2 from the HD if I not have the Quake-cd in the
CD-player?
Is there a config file to modify?

Just simply look in this groups past 3 days postings and the crack shall
be yours.

Sorry, the game can only be played in mult-player without the CD. For single
player games the CD must be in the drive. It's sort of a copy protection.
But there used to be a patch around that could be applied as to eliminate
the CD but I don't think it works for the current version

It can be done and easily too!!!
Go to http://www.ve3d.net/3Fingers/Q2Stuff.htm and download this file.
It only works for version 3.14.

Take care,

Here's the "NO-CD PROGRAM":
http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Way/7550/q2nocd312.zip

I don't use it myself, though. The first time I did I ended up having to
re-install Q2.

where can i get the quake 2 3.14 patch? just downloaded the patch for no cd
and it does not support my version, which was bought yesterday. so it might
be higher than 3.14?

you can get the 3.14 patch from idsoftware or from
http://www.ve3d.net/3Fingers/Q2Stuff.htm with the Capture the Flag for DM
included. Blast away ....
You must install 3.14 before the crack for no cd. There is no newer version
that I know of.
