When playing single player & multiplayer Quake2 I have lost my weapon view.
Even though every single config.cfg file is set up for right hand (set hand
"0"), I can't bring the weapon back.
I had made no changes on my setup, and I suspect the problem lies beyond the
aforementioned command, as typing in at the console does no good either.
BTW I run Game Launch and Game Spy, and everything is OK there; this problem
came up a long time AFTER
these two programs were installed and had worked OK.
Also, when I play Action Quake the weapon views correctly at the right.
Any tips appreciated.

I've got the same problem with my weapon missing.
Please tell me what the command is to set FOV to the
correct value. I assume its a console command?

At the console type this:

fov 90

That's it. Simple, huh?

If your fov is set on anything but 90 degrees you will not see the weapon!
also if your gun is in the center hand you will not see your weapon! set
hand 1 or set hand 3 will get your gun back! There is also a position
command to move your weapon and I believe it's possible to move it off the
screen but the command escapes me at the moment! anyway it's probably one of
the first two! LOL

cl_gun 0 In your autoexec.cfg removes your gun, try typing cl_gun 1 at the
console to check. If gun appears pop the line into your autoexec.cfg

try typing these:
fov 90
cl_gun 1
gun_x 0
gun_y 0
gun_z 0
at the console
If after these it doesn't show, and your hand is 0, then you have a
problem...

FOV at 120 was the problem.
Thanks!

Thanks. I'll give these a try. I'm curious .. what does FOV do?

I adjusts your field of view thus FOV! 90 degrees is default and the only
FOV that can render the weapon! but higher FOVs are useful to see more and
lower FOVs are useful for greater detail as in sniping!

changes your FOV.
FOV - Field Of Vision
Q2 measures it in degrees (horizontally) displayed. that explains why
the default is 90.

I tried setting all these at the console and in autoexec.cfg
and my weapon is still missing. What could be wrong?
