I've looked at alot of websites, and can't find a concise explanation on how
to activate or use the GRAPPLE HOOK. Can someone please point me to the
right page or help me here, please???

Grapple hook is only available in CTF. Bind a key to "use grapple". then hit
the key and fire it like a weapon (stop pressing fire button to release).
Better yet try an alias that switches you back to a weapon (so you don't get
killed trying to change back). Here's mine:

//offhand hook alias
alias +hook "use grapple; +attack"
alias -hook "-attack; weaplast"
bind x +hook
When you press and hold down x, the grappling hook fires and takes you to your
destination, when you release it unhooks and switches back to the weapon you
were using before. Hope this helps.

While in a Capture The Flag Game, (CFT) type "bind g use grapple" now press
g. Even if it looks like your normal gun, fire and see what happens. If
this doesn't work substitute "hook" for "grapple".

Good luck!

Been posted here hundreds of times. Lets try it again:

A grapple is just like a regular weapon, and is always in your
inventory. Select it from your inventory, fire it, and hold the fire
button down. The hook will grab something and draw you in fast.
Release the trigger to release the grapple hook. Or, alternatively,
select a different weapon while still holding your grapple and you'll
hang from where you are. Some useful aliases are:

alias +crapple "use grapple;+attack"
alias -crapple "-attack;weapprev"
bind mouse2 +crapple

Now every time you hit your right mouse button you will automatically
select the grapple and fire it. When you release the button you'll
drop and go back to the weapon you were originally holding...

Ok, but where do we put in these
commands, in the autoexec.cfg file
within the CTF dir?

Yes. The autoexec.cfg in the CTF folder should contain any aliases or
binding's you would use for ctf games.

The baseq2 autoexec.cfg would be for deathmatch (dm) games.

To activate the grapple, you need to bind it to a key of your choice.
For example, type this in the console:
Bind x "use grapple"
that will make x the key that brings up the grappling hook. You can
put whatever key you want it to be instead of the x. But use grapple
is the command. Also to drop a tech power up, the command is: "drop
tech" It works a lot like droping a rune in reg quake. Just bind it
to a key as you did with the grappling hook
