Well, this was an interesting interview. Pretty typical of CM/BIS, no REAL
answers.BUT one thing caugh my eye.

This question is very nice and the answer was VERY interesting.

Ofp.dk: What is BIS and Codemasters going to do so they can keep the
Multiplayer community alive - Plans on anything specific ?

David: To a certain extent a community has to run and motivate itself but we
want to do everything we can to support that community and the best way we
can do that right now is with regular updates and information.

OK, DAVID, PUT your money where you mouth is, RIGHT now the OFP community is
DOING everything, and CM/BIS are doing nothing. SO, how about releasing the
TOOLS for US to motivate and run ourselves, NOT to just a few insiders BUT
to this community you speak of.

BTW, another note of interest from here
http://www.3dactionplanet.com/flashpoint/

SITH and DNA are actually employees of BIS.....or at least according to this
web page they are, I find this most interesting because everyone I have
talked to within the community seemed to think they were just another member
of the community. I guess this explains WHY Operation Vietnam is getting SO
MUCH SUPPORT, the main members are actually employees of BIS.

I assume it is not just me that seems to think that this is strange. I have
never seen a community like this..ONE in which employees of the company POSE
as ordinary members.

Ah the plot thickens!!! Well I dunno...BIS/CM could call them employees if
they are paying them to make mods....they could call everyone involved in
the OV mod employees in that regard. Do you know for a fact that they have
always been BIS or CM employees even before they began working on the MOD?
If not then don't start rumors. Ease up a bit and let them have a chance to
prove themselves.

Errr no you'll find my news post says "DnA and Sith will be out of the
Bis offices over the weekend", and my forum post explains they're simply
visiting the Bis guys for a week or so to help them with beta testing,
mission design and playtesting, if you know anything at all about Bis
you'll know they're a small company without many staff members, Dna &
Sith are simply visiting the guys, hanging out with them and helping
them with a few things, as any other member of the Opf community would
love to do I'm sure :O)

Thanx for listening,

BTW that's unpaid employee of OFPN, non-employee of Codemasters (ask Si

Dude....chill out... Placebo emailed me about that...Sith & DnA were just
out at BIS helping them test some stuff. Just because they are at the BIS
offices doesn't mean they work for them. Hell just email Sith & DnA
yourself. But don't exagerate stuff and start rumors. It just pisses off
BIS and gets the OFP community all riled up about nothing. As far as the
OFP community and motivation, well it's true what they say...it must
motivate itself. The game only just was released and you want the world
from them. Relax a bit and be patient. Keep encouraging them to release
the SDK politely and with sensible arguements like you and Nigel made
earlier. Even better yet, perhaps try to find information comparing profit
revenues of various software manufacturers from specific FPS games to show
the differences between those who have released their SDK and those who
haven't. Sure Half Life and it's spawn, Counter Strike may be the most
popular ever, but did they make the most money? Show BIS solid info with
$$ and you'll get more of a response from them concerning SDK. But starting
rumors and accusations does not help them or us any.

Sith/Dna may be "working for" they may be "working with" but they're not
now, nor ever have been "employed by" Bis or Cm, you could call it a 1
week internship if you so wished, the simple fact is as I've already
explained twice, Sith/Dna have gone to hang out with the guys for a week
or so and will be helping them out around the office.

Obviously you have no intention of believing me, why should you, after
all I'm only the friend and ofpn colleague of Sith/Dna, so clearly I
can't possibly know anything about them or what they're doing......

Yeah it was nice ducking wasn't it ;O) almost as good as yours.

If you'd bothered to notice the time on my post it was 3am for me, I was
far too tired to reply to your nonsense.

I'm not on the Nam mod team for one (if you'd bothered checking your
facts you would have known that), all the guys who are on the team that
I've spoken to are rather puzzled why some idjit has got it into their
brain that it's going to be a "pay" mod, how can anyone with the
smallest amount of intelligence even think that something which is
barely past the drawing board is going to be "sold"? these guys have
never done anything like this before, who's to know what the end quality
will be like? it could be a steaming pile of cow excreta for all anyone
knows, it's months away, possible as much as a year away, who in their
right mind would make an assumption based on zero facts whatsoever? oh
yes that's right, you would, I guess the rest of us just have to draw
our own conclusions about the quality of your character.

The thing I find disgusting is that the blatant lies and unfounded
rumours are hurting people, people that are my friends, I'm extremely
loyal to my friends, as any decent person would be.

I think I'll end this now, you're clearly just one of these negative
trolls who always wants to see the bad in people, always wants to see a
negative side, always want to stir up nonsense by lying and making false
accusations, well you do what you want, Ofpn will survive no matter how
many jealous fools sling mud at us, why is that you ask? why will we
survive when others fail? is it because we get special treatment from
Bis/Cm? no it's because we're a group of loyal, dedicated, supportive,
committed people who're happy to give our free time in support of a game
and it's community that we hold dear, even if some of that same
community spits in our faces.

Ask yourself this, if it was all such a secret and a conspiracy that Dna
& Sith were hanging around Bis for a week or so, then why have they both
been coming into the irc channel using the tags Dna|Bis Sith|Bis not a
very good way of hiding it if it's true, the simple fact is Dna and Sith
are two teenagers (you knew their ages right?) who are hanging out with
the guys who made this totally kickass game, they're stoked about it, as
anybody else would be, well once they put their jealousy aside and
thought rationally that is.....

I wonder why I really bothered typing all this to you, when you're
clearly in capable of reading anything and seeing what you want to see,
I guess I'm just frankly sickened the way some people want to see ofpn
as being the bad guys, you will read all this and reply with some crap
I'm sure, obviously you don't have the intellect to actually read what
I've been saying, take it in and process it properly, well nothing I can
do about that, enjoy Max Payne or which ever community you wonder into
next, sorry that you hate Opf/Bis so much.

Enough of this mud slinging crap!
Sith, and DnA are not, I say again for the hard of reading, ARE NOT paid
employee's of Bohemia or Codemasters. The guys who run The Seventh web site,
are working with Bohemia on bugs, mission designs, helping round the
offices, getting to know what makes the place tick, as they were some of the
first people online to know anything about this great game. There was more
information on their site than I had access to when we first started working
on the game here, so it made sense to use them and a few other ssites which
existed back then.
One of the key ways to create a strong comunity is to set up web-links with
as many sites as possible, which is what I have tried to do with the
Codemasters site. In doing so, we have been amazed by the vast amount of
information some of these web masters have on the game, due to showing such
an interest in it since the products first conception.
Being so enthusiastic about the game, they created ther own mod, Operation
Vietnam. Something they developed in their OWN TIME! Something that was so
interesting to the developers and the publishers, it had been discussed
further. I for one as well impressed with the level of effort and ideas
coming out of their site and happily recommend their site, purely due to the
work they put into their site and finding out more about the game from any
source they can, not sitting on their back sides, demanding more free
missions, upgrades, SDK's etc for this quality game like 'some' people seem
to be doing!!!!!!!
*IF* anything of this idea was released, what's the problem if it's free or
for sale?
If it has enough content and is basically a full new campaign........why
can't they charge for it? Or if it a small add on, to increase the life span
of the game, it would then fall into downlaod size, which could be free. I
for one don't know any more than this, I'm alo in a fairly better position
to know what the future plans are, so by making such strong accusations, and
spreading such rumours isn't doing yourself or the community ANY favours.

* Upgrade packs WILL be available this week I can state.

Cheers
Si
