So who is going to buy it from Steam and why?
I suppose there will be a few that just want the convenience; surely they
are missing a trick here given the direct comparison between downloading
from Steam or downloading a cracked version. Still - who are we to know; we
only buy and play the games.
I've downloaded quite a lot of games via Steam and never had any
problems, however, I am aware of a few friends that have had the
opposite experience.
Personally I'm not too bothered by the difference in price. The
convenience of not having to drive into town to buy games was quite
enticing at one time. These days though I find myself hankering after
boxed games once again and online purchases from places like Play.com
still mean that I don't have to go anywhere.
It's been a while since there's been a game on Steam that I just had
to have the moment it was released. In fact, all of the Half-Life 2
games that I bought through Steam I have since bought hard copies of
as well.
Now I prefer to buy the boxed games and activate them through Steam
for that "play from anywhere" benefit. Of course, if Half-Life 2
Episode 3 were to suddenly be released tomorrow I would most likely
cave in and download it.
I guess it all depends how badly I want to play a game.
