Plot: Ash faces Harrison from Hoenn.

Harrison's Pokémon are:
1: Kecleon
2: Sneasel
3: Hypno
4: Steelix
5: Houndoom
6: Baziken

Funny-Intersting-Unusual:
1: How Hypno sounded like it was losing! (NOOOOO!!)
2: Hypno's voice was different than the original. (like several other PKMN
throughout the series)
3: How when Harrison was using Kecleon, Delia was worried about getting a
good picture. (BTW: her camera looks simmilar to a Sony CyberShot)

Thoughts
This ep was pretty much all BATTLE!
Of course, TR HAD to make that short appearance!
If they hadn't have shown that TR part, they might have been able to squeeze
the battle into one ep.

Pokemon aren't supposed to have the same voice. ^^;;; Look at the
episode where they stumble upon numerous Pikachu in the forest. The only
one that sounded like Ikue Otani was Ash's Pikachu.

To me it looked a lot like the Pokedex from R/S.

I highly doubt that removing the Team Rocket appearance would let them
put the entire battle in one episode.

It lasts half the next ep.

No, they didn't.

No, but they could have had a BIT more battle.

Really, I'm sick of the "obligatory Team Rocket appearance". They
don't need to be in every damn episode.

If their only purpose in an episode is to have them doing something
that has absolutely no bearing on the main plot, then they shouldn't
appear.

Hell, if their only purpose in an episode is to "try to steal Pokemon
again this week", then they shouldn't appear.

Sometimes, they're defeated only a minute after they show up to
challenge Our Heroes. And they're ALWAYS defeated.

It seems that the Japanese writers don't know of any other way to fill
up an extra few minutes. Couldn't they have Satoshi - I dunno -
challenge someone to a battle for practice and to increase his
Pokemon's levels?

If they don't get rid of Team Rocket, they could at least get rid of
the incompetent jokers that we've seen constantly since episode 2 and
have new Team Rocket baddies every week.

I think the reason (mentioned a long time ago) that Jessie and James
are trying to steal Pikachu is because it's an unusually strong
Pikachu. If this is true, then can't they, um, y'know, just go
somewhere else and steal a Raichu from somebody?

Does anyone know why Jessie and James (I don't know their Japanese
names) are on every week? Do the Japanese viewers demand to see them
or something?

My guess of why TR appears in every episode (except the first one) is because
they are supposed the Time Bokane-esque villains (a trio of bad guys who serve
as some sort of comic relief for the series).

I hope you realize that the show itself is rarely deviates from a set formula.
If you're going to complain about Team Rocket appearing, you should also
complain about Ash always meeting some new character lacking in depth who will
never appear beyond that given episode, or the fact that said character often
has a Pokemon that Ash has never seen before or if he has, exhibits some trait
that he's never seen in that Pokemon (i.e. it's a different color, it learns
some weird attack, it wears a hat, etc). You should also complain that Ash has
to whip out his Pokedex every time he sees a Pokemon, whether or not he's seen
it before, or that he spends most of his time traveling a non-descript forest
path "to the next gym town". Don't forget to complain about Pikachu always
finishing off the bad guys (be it Team Rocket or some new character) with a
Thunderbolt (or if Ash is in a different mood, Thunder), or that Pikachu
somehow manages to beat every damn Pokemon it meets, type advantage or not.

Really, of all the stupid crap on the show, you target the most tolerable.
Someone really needs to hit you with a paper fan.

Even though it can be interesting to see the unusual tactics - including
a demonstration of why Ash tends to ignore types. (The answer's not
just because the writers do - Dig hitting a flying pokemon?!?)

> Of course, TR HAD to make that short appearance!

Of course. And, depending on how the next eps come out, I can actually
see a possible point for TR's seemingly pointless appearance: building
up success to pay off their debt, so as to give them a different
recurring reason to be on Ash's trail when he goes to Hoenn.

THEY'RE THE WHOLE F'N SHOW (n. Rob Van Dam)

Roketto Dan popularity knows no limits. Forget the Japanese viewer, _every_
viewer in the world demands TR be in every ep.

In fact, it goes further, Sonans is now obligatory in every episode. The
whole of AG, he's never been missing from an ep (though 45 was a close one).

I don't follow you. How is Team Rocket's debt their current recurring
reason to be on Ash's trail?

Welcome to 1999.

How can you hate Team Rocket? They're the best part of the show. Would
you enjoy the show more if every episode was 24 minutes of Ash acting
like a retard (i.e. normal)?

Also, nice email address, you fucking queer.

Ashco occasionally stumble across places that can be looted. The
writers wanted a bit of variety from just stealing Pikachu every episode
- not that they don't still do that too, it's just not 100% of their
activities.

But, regardless, the point would be to retire Jessie's & James's debt
as a plot device, to coincide with the end of their Johto adventures.

A professional wrestler, formerly of ECW but now in the WWE (formerly WWF). Rob
Van Dam ofter refers to himself as the "Whole F'n Show" because he's that damn
good (a phrase, ironically, already taken by fellow pro westler Triple H).

"Roketto" is how you say "Rocket" if you're from Japan (as opposed to "Rocket"
in Japanese), and as stated in another post the suffix "-dan" means "group."
Thus Rocketto Dan is Team Rocket.

I think you are. My point is that you're a bit late to the party. Or
perhaps it really took you 200+ episodes to realize that Team Rocket are
mostly comic relief, and have been such for 99% of the series.

O rly. I would like to dispute this point. Ash is a stupid, shitty,
boring protagonist. Team Rocket are at least entertaining. But then,
I'm arguing with someone who likes Sailor Moon, so I guess this diatribe
is falling on deaf ears.
