Long shot, since this newsgroup is quiet. . .

Playing through MTS3 again (the revised version, is supposed to have fixes in it) . . In the plane of water, if you go south, you enter an Illithid area. I went through and killed everything (or damaged them and they used psionic power to teleport away / vanished).

Ended up in a building that split into three sections, each with a Mind at the end. If you travel too close, the Mind uses its mental powers and kills you instantly (no save).

But I can't interact with anything, and nobody dropped anything important. No secret doors or anything, either.

Anyone recall the purpose of this area? Was something supposed to appear? I really need to learn how to use the toolset one of these days.

I'm just having fun playing old favorites that I had largely forgotten (this is my 2nd complete playthrough)

Hi Jack!

Sorry to get your hopes up - I don't have an answer for you.
I also check this NG daily, and I must admit it was nice to see a real live
message! <g>

I *have* played MTS3 a long while back, so even though it's vaguely
familiar, I'm afraid I just don't remember that particular section.
Sorry I couldn't help (with a solution) but at least you know that your
message-in-a-bottle was found! :-)

Hopefully others check this NG occasionally as well, and you will get a
better answer!
(I would also strongly suggest you check out "GameBanshee.com", I have found
many answers there as they offer *very* detailed Walkthroughs!!)

Good luck!

Thanks, Neil! Glad you are still checking the beach for bottles washing up :)

I will check out GameBanshee. I did a general search of the web and did not see anything (most of the hits actually came back here with MTS as a module recommendation, back in the day). Searching a specific site might yield more, though. I did see a few references that sometimes, things failed to properly spawn.

That Illithid area had another bug - the portal out did not work! So, after finding nothing, I was stuck there as well.

That , I managed to resolve. I opened up the module using the toolset to remind myself of an area I had been to before, "Destruga" and used the console command to go back there. (by using the tilde, DebugMode 1 to access console commands. Then dm_movetoarea Destruga to jump there

That's useful for if you get stuck in an area, or for some of the older large modules that require a lot of running back and forth.

Thanks for the Debug tip, and I have used the console commands before but
sparingly. (I didn't want to break anything.) <g>
I'm glad you got that issue resolved at least, and I hope that GameBanshee
will hold more answers for you! Good luck!! :-D

Hey, Neil,
I think I read that Swordflight #4 is out now (and is on my playlist). I remember you had played at least partway through #3 (I think I am at near the end of #3 but set that aside for the moment).
After I posted, I realized that the Debug thing might help with where I am stuck in the Aielund series.
I got stuck in an opening area where the players meet, and a dragon is supposed to appear, we speak, then get teleported into the game. The dragon never appears so I am stuck. I can Debug to the game if I can figure out what the first area is. :)
So after I finish MTS3, it's back to Swordlfight, then Aielund.
