I have been having a ball playing Neverwinter Nights, but I am
very frustrated at my Druid's inability to summon a creature. I have
an animal companion (wolf, BTW) but cannot use the Summon Creature I
or II spell to summon a creature. Is this a glitch in the game, or am
I doing something wrong? (I was under the impression that Druids
could have an animal companion and a summoned creature, but maybe
that's wrong?) I am so frustrated I don't even want to play at the
moment, (and I actually have the time to play!) Can anyone help?
Thanks so much for your help! (I want to enjoy it again!)

Well, I've never had any problem with this (took a druid all the way
to Chapter2), so I'll ask the obvious questions:
Have you moved the spell from your spellbook to your memorized spells?
Have you rested since doing so, to recharge your memorized spells?
Are you using the radial menua/quickbar slot correctly?
I'm assuming you know how to cast spells, having taken a druid far
enough to get Summon Creature II, but I'm not aware of any bug in the
game that prevents you from summoning when you have an animal
companion.

Yep, I've moved it over...

Yep, done that too...

I *think* I am. I can cast lots of other spells (Barkskin & Bull
strength being my favorite!), and I can see that the spell is
memorized (by there being a 1 on the spell when I try to cast it) but
it is grayed out (for lack of a better word). I can see it, and see
that there is one there to cast, but it just won't do anything when I
try to cast it. Like it's a dud.

Thanks for the info, at least I know that it's possible to have a
summoned creature and an animal companion. It's good that there's not
a bug, but it would have been easier to add a patch than to try and
figure out what's wrong now! :-) Thanks again!!

You should cast it (hit the quickbar key), then click on the ground
near you where you want the creature to appear.

(replace the nonsense with druid816 to email me)
No bug, no dud. Some of the spells seem to need to be put in the quick bar.
Move your cursor over the quickbar slot you want to put it in,
Right click to bring up the control wheel,
Select the spell like you would if casting. The spell icon should now appear
in the slot.
Next time you want to use this spell, just click on the quickbar slot.

So, if you use the radial menu bar on the ground next to you, the summon
creature spells should then appear castable.
Hope this makes sense
