So I bought it, downloaded it and can't get it to run. It crashes to
desktop before even loading whatever the starting screen might be.

Any help here?

Without knowing a lot more about what you're trying to run it on, there's not
much anyone can say.

I did not buy this from GOG. I have a newish computer I built myself, running
Windows 7 64-bit. Installed from the original CDs with all updates and the
CEP, it runs just fine.

If the copy you bought from GOG doesn't run, I suggest the GOG forums.

Best,
Mark.

This is why I hate downloaded games and prefer disks :)

My son had a problem with a different game crashing, GOG was no help. He ended up re-downloading and reinstalling Steam and was able to play after that.

Other things... you may have to run NWN as administrator; run the NWN updater if you aren't already at the highest game patch

Hm. GOG and Steam are two different versions. Turned out also that the
problem was with my graphics card drivers - the most recent version for
an admittedly old graphics card seem to be corrupt. Ironically, getting
rid of the specialist ATI Radeon drivers and running the graphics
through my computer's generic graphic software seemed to make things
MUCH better all round...
