Your character sucks, how could you play such a lameassed character man!!!

PJ

PS, this was irony because you can't base strategy on NO information about
your character.

Wear a greater archers belt, dragon slippers if they are available to you,
and bring lots of Heal potions.

Have you got the special protection amulet from the dryads/dwarf
consortium yet?

Yep. Even with that I still get whacked.

Remember that white dragons have issues with fire spells. Use those if
you can. I stocked up on scrolls and spells before I went after him
and nuked him with no problem. Area effect spells are best as are
summoning spells to keep him busy while you attack from a distance.
Clerics should have some spells worth something in that regard though
I'm not sure if rangers can do much here.

Well I was going to go review my strategy, but I fought the Guardian
Dragon before 1.27 and I was 15th level. I just had a another go (from a
save) and all I can say is that it has drastically increased in
difficulty. (yikes) You might try repeated assaults. Instead of slugging
it out to the death, try this: attack, run away, rest/heal and repeat.

Alternately, patch back to pre 1.27 (before Bioware fixed Knockdown) and
have a go at it.

As a melee fighter, you don't have many chances more without an item which
makes you immune to knockdown, e.g. the dragon slippers. But when I set up
a test fight I recognized one more problem: This guy seems to have an
extremely high AC, even more than the 37 which an ancient white dragon
generally has. It looks like a bug, because from the scripts it should go
exactly
the other way - a reduction of the natural AC by 17.

I just beat this guy for the first time last night and I was very
disappointed with the fight. It was unbelievably easy from my
viewpoint with my lvl 10 Paladin/ lvl 2 Fighter. It did take forever
to kill him because I missed most of my attacks, but the dragon didn't
take more than 30hp off me the entire battle and I didn't have to use
a single potion during the battle. Reason? I am wearing Silverbone
+2 armor made by the smith in the camp and all the damage he was doing
to me ... I did spend most of my time "fighting" on my butt because I
kept getting knocked down ... was negated either because of that armor
and/or the Amulet of Ages that I wore. Still can't believe the
dragons attacks don't count as a +1 or better attack but that seems to
be the way it is.

Even though it's heavy armor and would negate your dual wield, maybe
it's worth having that armor made for battles such as this. 'Course,
if you don't have the components for it ..... I had carried a couple
magic bags worth of various components from the first 2 chapters for
use.

As for using fire spells, while that makes sense on a number of
levels, I started off the battle by using a Fire Gem (or whatever
they're called ... red gems that cast Fireball once) and it resisted
the spell for no damage. So, I had to take him down the "hard" way.

I also had Sharwyn with me who kept plugging him with arrows. The
battle was long enough to require her to re-cast her Bard Song twice
during the battle ... not that it helped me as by that time I had
pushed the dragon out of the range of her song.

So, for me, it wasn't like a glorious victory where I killed the thing
in 10 seconds or so, but it was disappointing that it's attack did
virtually no damage to me at all. I look forward to having my "eyes
opened" next time I face him. :)
