Name that module time!
In case anyone is still out there :)
I recall playing a mid-level NWN1 module where there is a largish cavern. "Clear sailing," I thought, since there was nothing between my character and the door or exit.
Suddenly, an enemy appeared and sneak-attacked me! Wham, ton of damage, but just as suddenly, the enemy disappeared - but not before I saw the tag floating above his head.
"Shadowdancer"
Well, I was playing my favorite combo - rogue/fighter/shadowdancer, and I immediately used Hide in Plain Sight myself. Also turned on 'search' mode to help me locate the enemy.
What followed was one of the more intense, hard-fought combats I remember. A lot of luck as we both snuck around, trying to spot each other and attack. We'd each occasionally spot the other and get in a sneak attack.
I was sure I would eventually win a stand-up fight due to my fighter levels, but he would always run and use HiPS immediately/shortly after attacking. (Don't recall if he had the feat that prevents you from getting an Attack of Opportunity or not)
That meant that I had to go stealthy immediately, as well, or risk being sneak attacked again. And it was really tough to spot him if I was not in search mode.
Is this ringing a bell to anyone? It's rare to see Shadowdancers as an enemy, even rarer when they are used well. I think I've seen them when their HiPS/stealth is not used at all. TIA
