I've killed everybody, looked all over the two rooms (with and without
the puzzle ring) and I can't figure out how to get to the lever in the
floor. I tried the Demon claw through the hole, but that didn't work.
Hints or out and out spoiler would be welcome now. Thanks.

Hint: maybe you could become something small enough to fit through the
hole...
Spoiler: Use the Sensei Amulet to polymorph to a fairie and fly through
the hole, cancel polymorph to pull the lever.
