Any ideas how to get past that?? I'm assuming
the door ends up down in the Crypts; there
was a door there that mentioned "another way
in from the Beggar's Nest".

Once you've killed the Yuan Ti, that's it. Drawl will no longer be there
to kill so you can no longer switch that door off.
What I have done is go though the cult up to the graveyard, then
backtrack through the Beggars' Nest to the warehouse and clean that out
as well - once you kill [Drawl?] the lightning barrier disappears. You
get maybe one or two more good items that way and a bit of extra XP.
But you don't really need to do it for the XP as there is more or less
unlimited XP available down in the Warrens (placing items into the
sarcophagus that generates mummies works as well as taking them out,
so you can beat up on as many mummies as you like - it's helpful to be
immune to fear at that point, though).

OK, that's the problem. I don't remember any
"Drawl", and I did kill the Yuan-Ti, so I'm
out of luck.

I didn't know about spawning mummies that way.
I'll have to play with it a bit. Yes, immune
to fear would be great there. <grin>
