Kazaa install?

I downloaded NWN from Kazaa after losing my copy from moving, but it doesn't
work: I can open the ISO from CD1 and CD2 but not CD3. If I burn them to CD,
I can start the install, but get an error during CD1 install. I can ignore
and continue, but CD2 presents a fatal error and I lose everthing. Anyone
know how to make the Kazaa one working or do I have to shell out 60$ again??
(and yeah I know this totally sounds crooked but it's the truth).

Did you register the product when you purchased it? I am sure something can
be arranged through NWN support.

It DOES sound crooked. And just because you pretend to have lost your
copy, that doesn't mean that you are entitled to download an illegal
copy via Kazaa to make things even again.

"Steve" <St...@protocom.com> once tried to test me with:

It's only $35 at most places. You could probably pick up a used copy for
under $25.

I haven't seen it below $39.99, but I suppose you might find a good deal at
$35 if you're lucky. As for the used copy....I'd walk wide of that path.
You never know if their CD-Key has been given out, and it would suck if you
found out that you cannot play online.

Even if you got it working, which I doubt you will (although, there are
other places you can get it) what good will it be for you? You cannot play
it online. Trust me...go fork out the cash. If you enjoy it enough to go
through the hassle you are going through, then it is worth it to have a
valid CD Key and to be able to join in online.

ROTFLMAO...sure they will. "Sir, if you'll give me your credit card # I can
fix this problem for you for only $44.99"

If it's a registered product and explain that the disks had been damaged or
lost or something I've had no problem with other companies sending me new
copies, they void out the old registration so it can't be used to update or
anything and mail out new copies, most I would pay is shipping.

Do you know that that is their answer to situations like this?

Companies want games seen as so-called 'intellectual property' and not as a
physical possession, for their own benefit - yet when users should be able
to take advantage of this distinction they complain, and indoctrinates such
as yourself become outraged at the proposition that someone who has already
paid for intangible, easily reproduced software should be able to replace it
easily when lost :)

In THIS particular case - if someone really did lose his copy - you may
be right. But I'm sure we are both not that naive to believe that most
Kazaa users are just like the one losing his copy, are we?

If your talking software that came with your computer, or application type
software, I agree with you. I've had some luck with getting replacement
CDs. However, as far as gaming companies go, I've had more trouble than its
worth.

Regardless of your personel opinions about why Kazaa users log on and
download software, the small minority of users who have actually lost their
copy should not be ridiculed or harassed. Your messages implied that he was
untruthful. I'm sure he didn't appreciate that (and neither did I). Who
gives a crap anyways? It isn't your job to enforce the policy. Perhaps
someone has spent too much time on his/her soapbox.

Well this is also why I've taken to the practice of burning 100 copies of a
particular game... uh... in case I damage one? *snicker*

You don't have to be lucky, you just have to exert a little effort.

I found it for under $35 at two sites without even trying.

www.gogamer.com and www.dirtcheapsoftware.com

To each their own. Some people aren't crooks. Most aren't, I dare say.

I'm sorry if I offended some people. I do understand that I'm a small
minority compared to pirates and I pity people who lost their trust in
people.. In some ways, I have too. The game is good, but not an aboslute
favorite, that is why I hesitate to buy it again. And since I'm in Canada,
that means shell out 65$, not ~40. For students like me, it's alot, and
something to think about.

I original post was to see if anybody had any success getting a copy from
Kazaa, and I understand that it is illegal. However, from my perspective
(and I agree it does require a fair amount of imagination), since I did buy
the game, I'm not ripping anybody off. It's after all my fault that I lost
it and I accept responsibility. I only want to mitigate my losses.

Anyway, if some people had luck using a Kazaa rip, just let me know so I can
be hopeful once again. If I offended anybody, I apologize profusely,
although it does take a fair amount of CDs up one ass to criticise.

Thanks again, and to those who are sympathtic to my question.

ALl he would need is a good copy of the play CD, or a no-CD patch,
and away he goes... Sounds pretty fishy!
