I installed Myst III for program play off my hard drive so I don't have to
use my CDs for game play. However, the first CD must still be inserted for
verification of Myst III ownership.
Problem: I play all the time!! I'm afraid of scratching my CD #1
eventually, then not being able to play at all. I tried copying the CD but
had no luck -- using Roxio CD copier.
Question: has anyone else tried copying the first CD for archival
purposes -- in case of damage to the original? Any luck? Perhaps this CD
is protected somehow. Comments please!

From what I've heard, it's protected, and no, you can't copy it.
Sorry!

Thanks for the info. Guess I'll have to be very careful to keep the CD far
away from the kids and pets, etc.

A clone CD program should do it ?
Are there any of these "clone" programs available off the 'Net
(freebie-type)? I haven't heard of these. And note, I DO have the
original -- just looking to preserve it in case of our usual kiddie
accidents, etc.

Exile is protected with safedisc v2.0 and can be copied with CloneCD
(www.elby.de) in combination with ClonyXL (for the appropriate settings) and
a writer that is supported by clonecd and capable of writing in raw mode.
Safedisc v2.0 is a very hard-to-copy protection. Safe yourself the time and
effort by downloading the 'no-cd-crack' from www.gamecopyworld.com
