Yes, I think the above slider controls the density of *default* objects like
the larger buildings, bridges, ships and carriers, etc, while the Autogen
slider sets the density of *autogenerated* objects like trees, houses and
power lines.

Yeah... :(
It has effect on texture refresh speed but not on blurries.

Try these

TERRAIN_EXTENDED_TEXTURES=1
TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS=9.500000
TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS=4.500000

I mean refresh from nothing (i.e. brown squares) to textures. Sometimes it
loads the lower mipmap so you see blurred textures, but I don't know why and
how to solve this problem :(

Dunno, I found these in a forum and they work better than the default
settings :)

First slider for all scenery objects but autogen

On the distance? I don't know, it should help sharpen the texture more
quickly though...

TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT

I think thats the one you were originally asking about. I keep mine pretty
high, around 4000 if I remember right, to help with blurry items.

I love that link. Especially the following recommendation:

" I have a DX8 or DX9 card and set the water effects to high but still
cannot see water reflections?

You may need to set the language option in Windows to English via the
control panel."

Does that mean that water effects happen only in english speaking
countries?? ;-)

Actually, yes.

I live in Denmark and normally have language options at "Danish". Before I
launch FS9, I change that to "English (United States)". If I forget, I don't
se any reflections in the water.

I wonder if anybody knows exactly why this is? Maybe a more convenient
work-around exists?

Now that is odd - is that documented anywhere?

Now I wonder if flying in some other countries, you may not get some
effects unless you switch to a specific, unrelated language ;-(

MS does some strange things at times ....

BTW - do you have the addon for the Oresundsbron bridge? It was for
FS2k2 but works nice in FS9. Have you driven over it yet? Must be an
interesting experience and is one of the things on my 'to do' list
next time I'm in Europe on a Eurail pass.

Yes, I have that one, but haven't yet installed it in FS9.

Yes.

If you like bridges, don't miss out on "Storebæltsbroen" (the Great Belt
bridge), which is even more impressive and, IMO, much prettier.

The link comprises the East Bridge, a 6,790 m long suspension bridge between
Zealand and the small island of Sprogø (1,624 m between the pylons), a 6,611
m long combined rail and road bridge between Sprogø and Funen and an 8,000 m
long immersed rail tunnel between Zealand and Sprogø

I think it's the second longest suspension bridge in the world. And it's all
ours. Half of the Øresund bridge is Swedish ;-)

BTW, there's a FS2002 freeware addon of that one too. May well work with
FS9.

problem with water effects in FS9 - I get nice water reflections and
animations.

Interesting clue. The language option actually initializes a wide range of
settings, such as decimal point character, currency, measure system,
date/time formats, etc.

Maybe a close inspection of these parameters will reveal where Finnish and
English (US) share a setting that is different in Danish. E.g. a quick
glance revealed that Danish, contrary to the other two, uses leading zero in
time format.

When I first heard about this work-around, my first guess was that it had
something to do with comma vs. period, but clearly this isn't the case.

Would you happen to know the filename for it?
Searches on avsim produced no hits - not with 'æ' nor 'ae' in the
word. I couldn't get in to Flightsim.

Henrik,
When you use Danish as the language - does FS9 use meters for
altitudes - either in ATC, the map or on acft panels?

No. To the best of my knowledge, this stuff can only be controlled from the

henrik,

Thanks a bunch!!
Great site, which I immediately bookmarked.
My parents were from Estonia so I have an attachement to the Nordic
countries. I even speak the language, but there's not demand for that
here in Atlanta :-)
So far I've only made it to Denmark and Sweden in RL. But I'd like to
take a train accross these bridges coming from Germany to Helsinki,
and then the ferry to Tallin. One of these days ...
